You cautiously entered the room, a plush cream carpet cushioning your feet. A faint smell tickled your nostrils. It was difficult to put into words, maybe like the smell of a new book?

It was a small, box room. Soundproofing insulation was smoothed onto the wall, with vinyl records hanging on top of this layer in multiple spots. There were piles of CD's messily thrown in a spiral in the corner, next to an acoustic guitar and an amp. Opposite this was a polished keyboard with a small, brown stool laying underneath.

You caught a glimpse of a petite glass cupboard, displaying guitar picks and drum sticks. A record and a CD player rested on this cupboard, the record player being a home to hundreds of stickers from ageless bands and singers.

The room was pretty dim, the lights Jungkook had switched on created two gleaming circles in the corner. They lay directly above two pale cylinders with flat discs hovering over them. This piece which stood proudly in the centre of the room, instantly grasping anyone's attention, was a grand drum set. The bass drum-head displayed a rough skyline of some sort, giving a unique and edgy look.

Jungkook smiled at you taking in the room and caught your eyes lingering on the bass drum.

'I drew it myself,' he said softly, nearing the set. 'It's the Seoul skyline. I got it printed 'cause I didn't know what else to put on it.'

You nodded with your eyebrows raised, impressed at his artistic ability to make such a simple concept look so detailed and intrinsic.

'It's beautiful,' you replied truthfully.

As you continued to absorb the room Jungkook opened the clear cupboard to release a pair of drum sticks.

'This is my music room, if you haven't got that yet,' Jungkook smirked, sitting behind his drum set on the chair. He gently began tapping the toms, not creating too much sound.

You turned your attention to Jungkook, admiring how at ease he looked. He shut his eyelids momentarily, portraying he was truly in his element, completely absorbed with fooling around with his set.

You analysed his face, looking at his perfect features and realised how lucky you were to be simply in his company. You had never been happier than how you'd felt the past two months, and it was completely due to the ray of sunshine playing around with the drums in front of you. You weren't good at the smoochy stuff, so hadn't truly opened up and confessed how much he meant to you and how drastically he'd changed your life, in such a short period of time.

That was the terrifying thing; the short period of time. You and him hadn't been taking things too seriously, it was so scary to imagine how quickly things could go south and he could be snatched away from you.

All of a sudden he opened his eyes and stopped playing as he looked directly at you. You were standing there smiling with your arms crossed, feeling comfortable in this environment.

'Y'know, Y/N, I've been playing a lot less of the drums recently,' Jungkook stated, twiddling one of the sticks between his fingers.

'You have?' You reacted sadly, hating the feeling of knowing someones passion was melting. 'Why?'

You'd been through the same thing a while back. The drums had been a huge piece of your being for a long time, but then life had got in the way, things like school and trying to get your photography business started. The drum set began collecting dust and then wasn't allowed in your new apartment complex once you finally moved, so that thick layer of dirt laying over it kept growing in your parents house.

'Remember I told you they used to be my escape?' Jungkook continued, allowing you to reminisce on one of your first conversations on the boat when this was brought up.

You nodded, grinning at this fond memory.

'Well you've kind of replaced the drums because whenever I feel stressed or the need for an escape, I go to you. You're my new escape,' Jungkook declared, losing eye contact shyly.

You bit your lip, beaming at this confession that seemed to come from nowhere. Those words he'd uttered made your day and dissolved all emotions other than your feelings for this boy.

You skipped over to Jungkook and squeezed him from behind, leaving multiple kisses on his neck. He spinned around to grab your waist and dragged you onto his lap. His presence on your body increased your heart rate and caused you to nervously giggle. You felt him smile over your shoulder, he knew damn well the effect he had on you.

He snuggled the drum sticks into the crevices of your fingers and twirled back to the position in front of the drums. You clung onto his chest with the fast motion, feeling his hot breath on your neck.

You found yourself facing Jungkook's drums while resting on his thighs. The familiarity of the instrument allowed your muscle memory to kick in. You began playing your previous escape, scooting forward on Jungkook's lap so you could reach the pedal.

A melody echoed around the room as you started playing a few songs you'd learned. Most were pretty basic since your skills were slightly rusty.

You found yourself immersed in the rhythm of a staple childhood tune. You felt the music flow through your blood and began humming the melody. You felt completely transported back to your true youth and innocence.

Breaking your submerged state was a quiet, low voice erupt from behind you. Jungkook's beautiful, soulful voice began to sing the lyrics to the song you were playing. You'd only heard him sing a couple times, but each time was so special and left you blown away by his gift and talent.

You grinned at Jungkook, joining in with the lyrics while simultaneously gently hitting the drums. It felt like a fun, nostalgic and loving environment. Both of you knowing the song felt like another unkown connection you had to add to the jigsaw of your relationship. It being a childhood tune, made you feel like you'd known him all your life.

You felt giddy playing the instrument you'd abandoned while Jungkook continued to pluck your heart strings.
