'Thank goodness,' you muttered under your breath after pressing send. This customer had been a massive pain and pretty rude towards you. She kept requesting additional edits and you had to remind her your official title was not a photo editor. You'd finally sent her a quick message stating you would no longer alter your pictures, she would have to seek someone else.
You peaked around the park, it was pretty flooded with people today, compared to normal. The Christmas season was approaching and you could see it in peoples spirits. A spring in their step, gleam in their eyes, just generally being happier.
You pressed your palms on your thighs as you got up from the bench, finally putting your phone away. You decided work was finished for today. Your sneakers bounced on the floor and you did a quick stretch after being sat down for a long period of time.
You began making your way back to the flat. The walk home was pretty average, just got slightly darker and colder each passing day.
As you neared your apartment, you quickly waved at Mrs Kim through the bakery window. Daeshim had gone back home and Mrs Kim's eye bags were back and darker than ever. You had offered to help her, but she insisted she was ok. She was getting up there age-wise, so you did worry about her not resting enough.
You then reached the number pad, and you swiftly enters the 4 digits. The matter had been resolved as you called the offices 8am on the dot after the night you spent with your parents, and sorted everything out. Apparently the entire building had been frantically calling the day previous since the offices had forgotten to distribute the code. It was a mess.
But as you said, everything was ok now.
You unlocked your door and unraveled your scarf and released your body from the coat. The coat was chucked on the sofa, covering Jungkook's hoodie that had been untouched since the boat night 2 weeks ago.
No word had come from Jungkook, not that you expected anything. You did want to reach out since he had been a lot of fun to spend time with. But the nerves you felt while hovering over his name inferred it wasn't a good idea to spend more time with this engaged man.
So the hoodie just stayed there, flipped over the sofa in a pile of dust.
You took off your shoes and changed into some comfier clothes. The TV was turned on and you simply melted into the couch.
You were a very introverted person, clearly shown by most nights laying on your sofa with no human in sight. But you did miss dating a little.
You'd had a breakup a year ago. It was just a teenage romance, nothing too crazy. Of course you were sad for a little, but you were over the whole situation now. You'd been thinking the past week that maybe it was time to get back into the dating world. But where to begin?
Dating clients was a no no, dating apps scared you and you were still, just about, underage. High school boys felt like miles away from you with your job. Your friends had mentioned about setting you up, but no one had really grabbed your interest before you dropped out of school, so you always said no. Not many options came to mind, so you just held out that you'd meet someone at the right time and in a random place.
You weren't desperate, your own company was more than enough, but the Christmas time had definitely brought up some loneliness.
You heated up lasagna you'd cooked a few days ago for dinner in the microwave, and cleaned up the place a little while it was warming.
After eating you watched more TV, played around on your phone for a bit and made your way to bed after calling your mother. She worried about you living alone, she said frequent calls were a consequence of moving out early. You loved the calls though, and couldn't imagine missing a day.
You were changing into your pyjama's when your phone buzzed on your nightstand. You assumed it was one of your friends so went to wash your face and brush your teeth.
After refreshing yourself, you cuddled your bedsheets and got comfortable. Your phone made its way back into your palms as you looked at who the message was from.
Your eyes widened as you read the name and a wide smile spread across your face involuntarily.
Jungkook.
It read,
Hey Y/N, my dads requested for me to have a photoshoot for work. Do you happen to have any availability? Thanks, JKFamiliar knots embedded in your stomach, but you simply ignored them. That'd be so nice to see Jungkook again, you thought.
Truthfully, your business had slowed down even more and at most you had 2 shoots a day, that being a very good day. So it was safe to say that you had many slots available.
So you replied,
Hi Jungkook, I have plenty of availability, let me know when's most convenient for you. XYou instantly erased the 'x,' forgetting Jungkook wasn't that close of a friend. You were about to click off the messages app when your phone pinged immediately.
This may be short notice but, do you happen to have time tomorrow?
Ah, that was short notice. You had someone later in the evening and you'd hoped to get some editing done in the morning. But that could be pushed back.
Anytime before 6 tomorrow would be perfect.
How about 10? Jungkook messaged back keenly.
I'll see you then.
You closed the app and smiled, looking up at the ceiling. At least that was something to look forward to tomorrow.
You recognised the nerves coming back. You really didn't wish to cross any boundaries or have any more excitement than you'd have for any other client. Nothing had even happened between you and Jungkook, you truthfully just needed to start dating again to send the butterflies in someone else's direction.
So you pushed any nerves down and continued to scroll on your phone as normal. But that didn't stop you laying restlessly in bed, unable to reach dreamland.
