Everything seemed perfect in my life. I didn't have Azula threatening me, the war was over, and most importantly I had Zuko. Ty Lee and I were forgiven by Team Avatar and we all actually got along. She had joined the Kyoshi Warriors a few years ago. My favorite reason about the present is I am now engaged to Firelord Zuko. My one true love.
I woke up this morning in Zuko's arms. He has been really helpful since I've haven't been feeling well this week. However, this morning I feel a bit weaker. And I hate feeling weak. Without waking Zuko up, I slipped from underneath his hands and walked into the bathroom.
I looked at myself and I looked tired. Dark circles were underneath my tan eyes. I also felt this weird pause in my breathing, like it was harder. Suddenly a quick pain ran through my stomach. The next thing I know is lump in my throat. I was about to vomit. My dark black free hair swarmed all over the place while I was leaning over the toilet. After a few minutes I cleaned myself and walked back into the bedroom.
Zuko had awaken up from his sleep and was sitting on the bed with a book in his hands. He turned to look at me with a smile on his face.
Zuko Pov
There she was, my beautiful goddess, future wife, and Firelady. I loved the way her raven hair flowed down her back. She may not smile around others too much, but her smile was genuine and perfect. I hadn't even realized how long I was staring at her till she rolled her eyes.
"Morning gorgeous." I say.
"Good morning, Prince." she says smirking. She loves teasing me with that nickname. Even though she knows I'm the Firelord, she sees me at the young prince she fell in love with so many years ago.
"Our friends will probably be here soon. Get ready now since you're slow as a turtleduck out of water." Mai said.
"As you wish, "My Lady". I tell her kissing her hand
"I've told you not to call me that." She said blushing.
~Time Skip~
No one's Pov
Zuko, Aang, Katara (Who are recently engaged), Sokka, his wife Suki, Toph, Iroh, and Ty Lee were all seated in a living room in the royale palace. Mai was in the nurse's office to get some medicine so her stomach wouldn't hurt so much during the event. Everyone was talking about how their lives were going. Zuko and Aang had built Republic City and so far, it was good. Toph is the Chief of Police there as well. Sokka and Suki were staying in the Earth Kingdom since Suki was still the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors. Iroh also stayed there to run his tea shop called The Jasmine Dragon. Ty Lee also was in the Earth Kingdom most of her time being a Kyoshi Warrior but did travel a lot during her days off.
"How about you Zuko?" Iroh asked. He had handed out everyone tea earlier. "I'm fine. Being Firelord consumes most of my time though. Mai helps me a lot with the stress. She makes my life a million times easier. But the Fire Nation is under control and in a good place." Zuko responded. "Where is Mai?" Katara asked.
"She said she had a quick stop to make but she'll be here soon." Zuko answered. Everyone then went back to small talk and tea.
Mai Pov
I went to the nurse's office for my stomach. It had been bugging me all morning and I wanted it to go away. I sat down in a chair in front of the nurse. She was a kind young lady, a mix of Water Tribe and Fire Nation. She had short black hair, deep blue eyes with little flecks of gold, and caramel skin most people from the Water Tribe have. I also think she told me she a waterbender once.
"Hello Lady Mai." she said with a kind smile.
"Good afternoon Zeri. I was wondering if you have something for an aching stomach.
"Yes of course. There are different kinds so can you explain how it makes you feel?" Zeri asked.
"It makes me feel weak. Sick all the time. And it comes and goes giving me headaches. This morning I felt more tired than I usually do, and it was kind of hard to breath." I spoke.
Zeri took notes of the symptoms and looked up at me with a shocked expression.
"Forgive me Lady Mai but those aren't symptoms of a stomachache." Zeri replied.
"But I feel the pain in my stomach." I said suspiciously
"Those symptoms usually suggest one thing. Pregnancy." Zeri said nervously.
My eyes were filled with shock. Pregnancy? It couldn't be. I can't believe this. Zeri took a pregnancy test on me and said she'll be back in a few minutes. I usually try to stay calm but this, it was bothering me. I don't have the first clue to being a mother. I'd probably be the worst mother ever. I silently prayed it came back negative.
Zeri walked in with a smile on her face. "Congratulations Lady Mai, you are carrying the heir of the Fire Nation." Zeri said clapping.
"Why are you so happy about this? I'm not married, and I have no experience being a mother. I didn't even have a good example." I asked her.
"Lady Mai, I know you're going to be a great mother. Remember your fiancé loves you and is going to support you in every way he can. I know we barely know each other but I can tell you're filled with love. This child is going to be the luckiest child in the world because it's going to have a great mother like you. I can't wait till you're officially the Firelady. You are going to make history and help our nation become greater like you have been. Trust me." Zeri said holding my hand.
"Thanks, Zeri" I say. Maybe I will be a good mom. My last thought was Everything is alright. And with that I go to find my Fiancé and our friends.
No One's Pov
Mai had found the living room everyone was in and walked in. Ty Lee immediate jumped and hugged Mai the moment she saw her.
"Mai!!! There you are. You took long enough." Ty Lee squealed through the hug. Mai patted her back saying, "I was only gone for like 15 minutes Ty." After the hug Mai sat on the couch next to Zuko, with Iroh on the end of the couch on the other side of Zuko. Ty Lee decided to sit on the other end of the couch next to Mai.
Everyone greeted Mai while she sat down drinking her tea.
"Sup Gloomy, you seem tired?" Toph asked. She could see since her feet were partly on the ground but not enough to feel full vibrations.
"I'm okay. Tired but okay." Mai answered.
After a few more minutes of small talk everyone decided to have dinner. At the dinner table Toph mostly just teased Sokka. Aang and Katara also wanted to talk more about their wedding. Everything just seemed so perfect.
