Wanda's POV
We pull up the driveway of a quaint house in the hills, hidden behind a gate and a thick of trees. She turns off the car and we both sit in the silence for a moment. I can't quite describe the moment in the In-and-Out parking lot, but it's heaviness still lofted the air.
Y/n clears her throat, "Would you care to come in for a while?" She asks, making eye contact for only a second before darting her eyes back out the front windshield.
"I'd love to." I wouldn't mind spending more time with her, and I certainly don't want to go back home to an empty house, or worse the arguments to follow if it's not empty.
We open our doors and make our way up the the front porch, she digs into her pocket and fishes out a set of keys, a prominent key chain saying 'Fuck the Patriarchy,' I feel myself smiling as she fumbles through each key trying to find the right one for the front door. The newest 'Asshole of LA' is a big Swiftie, she gets more interesting by the second, and yet I still can't get a read on her.
As she finally finds the right key, gently placing it within the keyhole, she looks back down at me. She was tall, but not so tall it was intimidating, she has sharp features, the type that make you want to memorize all the details of her face, and her mannerisms, the way she gestured and moved her body alluded to a natural comfort in who she was, she was confident in a way most actors have to fake in front of cameras.
She opens her mouth, squinting her eyes, "I should ask before we go in-"
I lean up on my tippy-toes, curious of what she could ask, and I find myself leaning into the moment, "mmhn?" I hum.
"Are you allergic to dogs?" She asks nervously.
I chuckle, setting myself back down on solid ground, "No, I'm not allergic to dogs." I reassure her, trying to hide the grin plastering my face. How could someone who everyone is labeling a jerk be so concerned with someone else's allergies, and be so adorable when asking? And with that she finally turns the key, opening the door wide open for me to walk through first.
As I step inside I take a second to look around the main living room, from here I can see into the dining room and kitchen, to the right is a hallway where presumably everything else is. The furniture was contemporary and yet homey, and lived in. The walls were neutral and inviting, movie posters hung in expensive frames. On the coffee table there were pages of what looked to be scripts and piles of books, and a few forgotten coffee mugs. Over the couch hung cozy blankets, and a jean jacket. I take another step inside, not watching where my foot landed. As I step down I hear the whine of a squeaky toy, I lift my foot up slowly hoping to quiet the noise, but it just lets out again in a longer tone.
A commotion comes from the dining room as a fluffy dog runs in, jumping over the back of the couch and right up to me and Y/n. She closes the front door, setting her keys and wallet into a tray behind the door. She smiles when the dog wags its tail at her, crouching down on her knees to allow it to lick over her face in hello kisses. A woman gets up from the table and walks into the living room.
"Hey, didn't know you'd be back already." The girl states, leaning against the archway. She was young, younger than Y/n and I. She couldn't be older than a freshman in college. I furrow my brows, unsure of who she was, a twinge of something stirring in my stomach.
Y/n gets up, brushing off the hair the dog had flung onto her in it's greeting, making her way over to the girl with a smile. "Thank you for watching him, I know you probably have better things to do."
The two of them walk further into the dining room out of sight and earshot, I set my purse down on the table where she places her keys and wallet. The dog looks up at me with his tongue hanging out and his tail wagging, he uses his head to try and usher me into the living room. I sit down on the couch and watch as he jumps up and lays beside me, resting his head on my lap for pets.
