Fear and Love Part III (Kakashi X OC)

Difficult Decisions

"I guess I'll just summarize what's been going on. The Shioki clan attacked the Leaf Village about six months ago." Kakashi began explaining the ongoing situation to Orochimaru, "Since then, it's been impossible to find anything on them in our investigation. My wife and I got captured by them for a brief time and they kept referring to their leader as 'Mother' and during the fight that occurred before our capture, she sealed two sand ninja but when we unsealed them they turned out to be puppets that were programmed to attack us. We obtained one of their mission dossiers by a stroke of luck and a hidden message on there indicated that they are out to kill the Hatake, Nara, Inuzuka, and Hōki clans of the Leaf. When the Sand searched their scroll archives, they found several trap scrolls that left the message 'I want revenge for what he did' . Our records have found that all these clans have a connection to my father's last mission, however, conveniently, the document containing the report of my father's last mission is missing. So as far as our investigation goes, we're stuck in a gridlock."

Orochimaru leaned forward, a devilish smirk that seemed to permanently reside on his face turning into an irritated half frown,"So why was I was called in for this? This sounds like a family problem, Lord Sixth."

"Well, considering you were an enemy of the Leaf for years, your beloved student, Sasuke, seems to think that you may have some knowledge that may shed light on this situation. He divulged that you stole multiple scrolls and documents from the Leaf prior to your separation from the Village and he said you know something about everyone. So here we are."

Orochimaru squinted, Kakashi couldn't deduce whether or not the man was angry that we was being asked these questions or if he was thinking. But eventually he answered, "Well, back when I was in the Akatsuki, I stole multiple scrolls and documents from the Leaf. Perhaps even while I was still considered a Leaf Shinobi under Sarutobi sensei. One of them could have information about your father's last mission..."

"I thought we collected all stolen documents from your abandoned hideouts after the war." Kakashi crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, "That was one of the criteria for pardoning you. Are you telling me that you did not disclose every hideout as was agreed?"

Orochimaru let out a sinister-sounding chuckle. Kakashi wondered if he was able to not seem sinister or if that was just how he sounded all the time, "Well, not the hideouts that were destroyed and buried. Those would be difficult to get to. Unless..."

The former criminal paused, knowing what he was about to say would piss off the leader of the Land of Fire, and subsequently the man who has pardoned him and Sasuke for their crimes. But what pissed Kakashi off more was his silence.

"Orochimaru, we finish our sentences here in the Village. Don't waste my time." Kakashi wasn't too fond of having to speak to the man who tortured his wife for three years. Orochimaru hadn't the slightest clue of the impact he left on her.

How the vivid dreams in remembrance of those times would cause Tsuki to wake up in panicked cold sweat. Kakashi hadn't the slightest clue how many times he woke up in a jolt in the middle of the night to Tsuki screaming and crying, it was too many times to count. He had to shush her to sleep and hug her until her tears would stop falling. The dreams died down over the years, but of course they never completely stopped. Although Tsuki gave Kakashi the green light to pardon the man based on the fact that his expertise in scientific research was too valuable to dispose of, Kakashi couldn't believe he actually pardoned him.

Kakashi couldn't stand to see Tsuki in so much pain and turmoil. And now that he was facing the man who was the cause all of that, he didn't have the nicest tone of voice.

"Unless, someone with impeccable control of earth nature type chakra can dig up the destroyed hideouts and search through them..." Orochimaru finally finished his sentence.
