"So tell me about your time travel experience, Kana.." Kakashi turned his head towards his daughter's face that was resting on his shoulder. Kakashi was carrying her piggyback as the small group of ninja quickly dashed through the trees.
"Well, I ran into you when you were six and grandpa was there with you!" Kanari said excitedly,"And he was so nice and let me live with you guys cause I was by myself. So for the whole two weeks I got to go to school with you and all your friends from your childhood.."
Kakashi chuckled, the found it interesting that everyone in his family saw a glimpse into what his life was like at such different points,"Sounds like you had fun. Maybe you got to see how much of a punk kid I was."
"You were actually really nice.." Kanari rebuttal,"You helped me train and we passed the genin exit exams together even though I couldn't use my Chojougan because grandpa would have thought something was up."
"Wow, look at you, you're so smart baby girl for thinking of all that.." Kakashi was so proud of his daughter.
Her arms that were wrapped around his neck squeezed him a little tighter,"You and mom gave me good genes...."
Kakashi smiled in response.
"The only thing that sucked is that grandpa died right near the end of my time there. And I had to let you go through that alone.." Kanari said with a somber tone, barely holding back a sniffle.
"Cheer up, pumpkin.." Kakashi said trying to comfort his upset daughter,"That's all in the past and I'm okay. I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon.."
Kanari squeezed onto her dad's neck, burying her face into his shoulder to hide a few shudders from remembering the scene of Kakashi's death but simultaneously trying to remind herself that it technically didn't happened and that she was literally hugging her dad right now.
Kakashi loved his babies more than anything, and it pained him to know they had to experience the same thing he did as a child.
"Kakashi, we should stop soon. Daylight is starting to break." Sasuke said looking around the forest with his Sharingan in search of enemies.
"Yeah, there's a town up ahead, we can stay at an inn for the night and continue traveling once the sun starts to set." Shikamaru confirmed.
Tsuki, who was getting exhausted after running for hours while pregnant breathed a sigh of relief before she lost her footing and slipped off a tree branch.
"Mom!" Kai exclaimed
Kakashi, with Kanari still on his back, jumped forward and in a split second stabbed a kunai into a thick tree branch to hang from while he caught her with his free arm wrapping around her waist.
Kanari rolled her eyes, knowing her mom was tired cause she was with child and not wanting to tell her dad. She had already informed her brother not to say a word either.
Tsuki reached up and grabbed the tree branch and pulled herself back up while Shikamaru and Sasuke stopped next to the them.
"Hold on tight, sweetie.." Kakashi instructed Kanari, as he swung forward and flipped himself back up onto the branch.
"Tsooks are you okay?" Kakashi asked with concern lacing his voice,"You never trip up like that.."
Tsuki nodded her head,"Thanks babe. I just don't think I rested that well before we left. I'm just tired and hungry."
"Are you okay to keep going?" Sasuke asked, knowing she was pregnant as Tsunade had specifically told him to look out for her,"We have maybe ten minutes before we reach the town..."
