"Void" -The Neighbourhood
September 30th, 2002 2:01am
Your legs hoisted over your windowsill, softly thudding back into your room. You slowly close your window, letting yourself start to roam the dark room.
Though your heart sank when the light turned on, revealing your father standing there, a belt resting comfortably in his rough hands.
"Where the hell were you." He didn't scream, he didn't shout. You felt disturbed.
This is unlike him.
"I.." you couldn't even muster out a sentence, your eyes never leaving him.
"Answer me!" His shout made you jump, stepping back a couple steps. Your heart pounded as he stepped forwards.
"I was out." You trembled. "Out?" Your father scoffed. "Out?"
He stepped forwards before shoving the lamp off of your dresser, shattering into a million multicolored pieces.
"Is this household not good enough for you?!" His voice raised; you stumbled back. "You just feel the need to leave? To go out somewhere else?"
"Stop!" You shouted as he swung the leather belt at you, just barely being able to dodge it. "Fucking stop!"
"Don't you tell me what to do! You're my child!" He began walking towards you, yourself nearly tripping over the shattered lamp.
He lurched the belt in your direction, it grazing over your cheek, stinging.
You heaved one of your textbooks towards him, throwing him off guard. You take this chance to unlatch your window, hoisting yourself onto the balcony and making a beeline for Brian's.
You heard your father groaning, slowly getting onto the balcony. Your tapped on Brian's window, to which he swiftly realized it was you and let you in. You hopped through, falling onto the older male.
You both could hear your father shouting as he realized you were gone.
"You are not my child! This is no longer your home!" He screamed, slamming the window as he got back inside. Brian turned a lamp on, the orange glow revealing the bruise forming on your cheek.
