You could barely look him in the eyes, your face filled with regret of actions you had no say in. Jay definitely noticed your fumbling hands and uncomfortable shifting.

"I'm sorry." An apology left his mouth, to which your eyes widened, baffled he would be the one to apologize.

"Jay, why the hell are you apologizing? Fuck dude, I should be the one apologizing for doing unspeakable things." Jay placed a hand on your shoulder and paused for a moment, before ultimately bringing you in for a hug. His hand rested on your back, your head leaning on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry for not trying hard enough to find you. I'm sorry you were stuck out in an abandoned building for god knows how long. And I'm sorry for bringing you back into this." His words were definitely sentimental, his grip on you never letting go.

"You're my best friend. It was eating me alive not knowing if you were safe. I wouldn't be able to do this without you." You pulled away slightly, the taller man almost on the verge of crying on your couch.

"Jaybird, you've been one of my best friends since college, and words literally can't express how much you mean to me—especially right now. I'm actually dumbfounded you even want to speak to me after knowing what I did." You could almost let out a laugh, your hands resting on his shoulders.

"Of fucking course, I can't just let you go like that. I know you weren't even in your right mind when you did those things, so it isn't your fault." His hands rested in his lap, eyes trained on you as you playfully shoved his shoulder

"I appreciate it a lot, birdboy. Plus, I know you have some screws loose up there too." He let out a contended laugh, leaning back into the couch cushions.

"Oh, please." He scoffed, readjusting his hat. Your eyes made their way to the old hat he's had since college. "Im surprised you've kept that piece of junk. It's holding on by a thread, don't you think?" You grinned.

"I like to think it keeps me safe, y'know?" He took the hat off and held in between his fingers by the brim. "Like a token of safety."

"Token of safety, huh?" You looked at the article of clothing. It would tell a plethora of stories if it could.

"Hey, uh, Tim and Charlie should be coming by soon. I feel like we all kinda need to get together and plot our next move on this." He rubbed the back of his neck before placing the hat back on.

"Alright." You sat straight up on the couch and stretched, your arms soon returning to your sides as a knock emitted from the front door—right on time.

"I'll get it." Jay hops up from the couch and maneuvers to the door before opening it. "Make yourself at home." You could hear him say.

"This is my apartment, asshole!" You laughed as your head turned towards the door. "Hey, I lived here!" Jay laughed. "And I paid for it for eleven and a half months!" You could hear Charlie's voice, receiving a cackle from yourself.

You felt a presence haul themselves onto the couch next to you, looking over to see Timothy leaning back against the couch cushions.

"Didn't know your angsty ass was here." You snorted, receiving a punch from him.

"Ouch, my feelings." His sarcastic voice gaining a laugh from Jay. You scoffed. "Like you have any."

Jay sat back down on the couch, Charlie closely following as he sets his laptop on the table.

"Alright.. so, me and Tim had to change locations from where we were. I was staying at a hotel until we left to come here." Jay briefly explained. "Because of Alex is still out there, he's gonna find us at some point."

"He's always been the 'never giving up' type." You half joked, remembering bits and pieces of Alex's personality that you held in the back of your mind.

"That's a super unfortunate personality trait for us right now." Charlie muttered. "When Amy went missing, I didn't know what the hell to think of him."

You could only slightly recall Amy's disappearance, never knowing if she was found or not, but by how Charlie's talking, you'd assume she never was.

"I wanted to ask if we could stay here for the time being?" Jay asked. "We don't have very many options right now." He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Yeah, I don't care, but it's up to you guys to figure out where you're gonna sleep." You leaned back into your pillows, eyeing the guys.

"Shit, fine by me. I call the guest bed." Tim stands up from his spot. "I'm gonna go get my stuff out of my car now."

"Wow, you guys came prepared." A laugh left your lips as Jay rubbed the back of his neck. "We were hopeful you'd agree to it."
