"Tiptoe"
-Imagine DragonsJuly 4th, 2006
8:32pmThe crackling of the flames, orange hue lighting up the ground around you. The summer Alabama air is scorching, the fire only added to it.
"Hey, catch!"
A plastic packaging of marshmallows hit your chest, hands quick to grasp it as you look up to who threw it.
"Can you get the s'more stuff together while me and Alex get the fireworks from the car? I forgot them." Amy asked, to which you nodded in a friendly demeanor.
"Yeah, it's chill, dude." You grabbed the chocolates from the cooler, ensuring they didn't melt in the summer heat.
Amy and Alex soon left from your sights, a snicker leaving Brian's mouth—soon to be followed by words.
"They're definitely gonna fuck somewhere."
A wheeze left Tim's lips, his head dipped down as he laughed. Your eyes made their way to around the campsite.
We brought around four tents, two people per tent. You leaned against the log, Brian standing up into your field of vision.
"I'm gonna go back in the water." He mentioned, still in his swimwear, like the majority of us. The towel underneath you crinkled as you stood up, dusting yourself off.
You grabbed a beach ball before throwing it to Brian. He laughed as he caught it, twirling it around in his hands.
Your hand grasped Jay's hat, putting it on your own head as he stood up. "C'mon, Jaybird. I wanna demolish you at whatever game we're gonna play."
"Oh, fuck you." He laughed, your feet carrying you through the grass to the water. You jumped into the dark water, the moon reflecting off of the surface of it.
You looked around for Brian, a confused expression forming on your face as your eyes never landed on the taller male.
A shout left your lips as you felt something grab onto your thighs, yourself being lifted. "Jesus fuck!" You cursed as you sat on Brian's shoulders, hun emerging from the water, a laugh leaving his lips.
"You scared the shit out of me." Your heart raced as you held onto his shoulders, his hands resting comfortably on the sides of your bare thighs.
His hands are rough and rather large, yet so comforting to you. Jay held the beach ball, throwing it to you as Tim appeared underneath him—a repeat of the stunt Brian pulled seconds beforehand.
Jay let out a laugh as he steadied himself on Tim's shoulders. You adjusted Jay's hat that still sat comfortably on your head.
"Chicken fight!" Brian shouted as he began to waddle through the water to Tim and Jay.
Your hands interlocked with Jay's, the both of you attempting to shove the other into the water.
"I'm not letting you have this, bird-boy!" You mocked him in a playful tone as he shoved you back. You nearly fell into the water off of Brian's shoulders, but he gripped onto your thighs tighter—keeping you in place.
"Oh, you cheeky bastard.." A taunting smile formed onto Jay's face as Tim readjusted him on his shoulders, his flannel sticking to his skin.
Brian began to swim-run forwards, your hands shoving Jay back, him nearly falling himself. His legs readjusted as you laughed.
A swear left your lips as Jay swiftly shoved you back by your shoulders, you falling back into the water. Brian fell with you, legs detaching from his shoulders.
Your body plunged into the dark water, eyes cracking open. Brian's body floated above yours, his hands gripping onto your hips, pulling you to the surface.
You desperately breathed out, inhaling as much air as humanly possible as a smile formed. "Thanks for that."
Brian nodded as a response, his eyes gazing over your shoulder. You looked to where he was, Alex and Amy appearing from the trees.
"About fuckin' time." Seth cackled from the shore. The bag full of fireworks in Amy's hands caught your eye.
"Oh fuck yeah." You muttered as you waddled through the water to the shore.

7:31amYour eyes cracked open, a pain jolting through your foot. The yellow hue of the sun's rays peeked in through the window, your eyes landing on your nightstand.
A sticky note.
You leaned over to grab it, your eyes scanning the writing.
''be more careful next time'
Your confused expression mirrored how you felt, your eyes making their way down to the pain in your foot. A bandage covered your foot, neatly wrapped.
You're very certain you didn't do that.
Your mind raced to the previous night, jolting to stand up and check the bathroom. You winced as your foot ached. You must've stepped on the glass from the shattered lamp.
The hallway was spotless.
No glass.
No blood in the sink.
You backed up against the hallway wall, mind racing as everything unfolded. You couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't.
All the weird events started making less sense than before.
Is someone stalking you?
Do they have intentions of hurting you?
You felt the urge to message Jay of what happened, your feet carrying you back to your room.
Though an expression of horror filled your face as you realized the previous sticky note is replaced with a new one.
'you're welcome for cleaning up'
