"And I Love Her"
-Kurt CobainMarch 10th, 2013
6:35amYou never forgot him, or the way he made you feel. Every emotion felt amped up by a million when you were around him.
As teenagers, he was sweeter than a toothache, never letting you off without at least a hug and a goodbye hair ruffle. He was the person that kept you sane, and you tried to do the same for him. You never got the know what his home life was like, parents always out for whatever reason, but you knew it wasn't pretty by any means.
He knew your home life wasn't great either and really wanted to do his best to act as a distraction from it. He was the person you would run to when your dad was throwing bottles at your mother, or targeting you.
Brian sometimes would simply knock on your window and embrace you with teary eyes. You never asked questions, always focused on trying to comfort him to the best of your abilities.
Though, through the years together as teenagers with the younger Brian, the one you came in contact months prior made you feel different.
You recalled the way his lips felt on yours, the pure touch starvation he endured after years on his own, under the operator's influence. The hunger behind every move he made, his calloused hands sending shivers down your spine.
You craved to just even see him again and his bubbly smile. Your fingers grasped the edges of your pillow before shoving it down on your face, wanting to scream in frustration of the situation.
Your feet threw themselves over the side of your messy bed, quietly walking down the dim hallway. The blueish glow of a laptop screen caught your eye.
"Mornin', you're up early." Jays voice registered in your mind as you saw his figure sitting on the couch, feet propped on the coffee table.
"Yeah." You rubbed your eyes. "Couldn't sleep." You took a seat on the couch next to him, footsteps in the other room making you nearly jump.
"Jay, where'd you put the coffee pot?" Charlie's voice questioned from the kitchen, the response of Tim coming into view drinking straight black coffee out of the pot.
Jay gave a dramatically disgusted expression. "You are vile." A cackle left Tim's voice as he gives the pot back to Charlie.
"You about drank all of it, you asshole!" Charlie's half joking tone mixed in with the sound of him pouring what was left of the coffee in the pot into his mug.
"Do you have any rum?" Tim asked. "Sometimes I'll put it in my coffee."
"Unfortunately not." You sighed, watching as Jay attempted to flick through corrupted footage. "Damn." He muttered, chugging what's left of his cup.
"I'll run to the store down the road if you're that desperate." Charlie snorted, sitting on the other side of Jay as he worked.
"I think I got it." Jay said, a sliver of excitement in his voice to finally have another lead.
Tim stood behind Jay, leaning on the back of the couch as his eyes glazed at the laptop screen. Jay pulls out a small notepad, the scribbling of his pencil mixing in with his voice muttering his thoughts.
You noticed everybody crowded around the laptop, a snort leaving you as you thought of something. "What is this? Some shitty Scooby Doo gang?"
"Minus the dog." Tim mentioned.
"I think Seth had one."
Jay laughs as he finishes writing.
"This would be.. entry number sixty-eight." He sets the pencil and paper down before his finger brushed over the space key to hit play. "About an hour ago, somebody uploaded this footage to the channel that wasn't me."
The number sixty-eight flashed on screen over a black screen with slight noise in the background before it cuts to a field. It cut to different nature shots, birds being seen in a few of them.
It then cut to an all too familiar concrete building. You brushed your finger against the space bar, pausing the video.
"Hey, that's the place Brian had me stay at!" You pieced together that it's a good chance it's Brian who's taking the video.
Your suspicions are confirmed as the camera is set down on the floor, revealing a figure wearing that yellow hoodie sitting down on the dirty mattress. He sat there for a moment before taking off his mask to drink out of the water bottle next to him.
He soon gets up to grab the camera and leave the small room. He looks around, panning the camera to different angles of the building until it points to Alex rushing in, grabbing hold of him, to which they struggle for a moment.
The footage glitches slightly as Alex screams. "Where did they go?!" He screams about the four of you, socking Brian in the face. "Wipe that stupid smile off your face." Brian never once spoke during their encounter.
Loud glitching corrupts the audio as Brian makes a run for it, Alex screaming from the building.
"You can run all you want, but I will find you!"
It soon pans to the maintenance tunnel, with the words 'you are afraid' in capital letters above the light source. Soon cutting to Jay hopping down the tunnel entrance before the camera is panned away. A static screen with an orange hue plays for a moment before it cuts to Brian, mask on, in the maintenance tunnel for a few seconds
before he turns the light off on the tunnel. It cuts to a black screen with 'you are trapped' in capital letters over it before soon ending.
The four of you sat in silence after it ended, unsure of what to say.
"What the fuck." Charlie muttered first, slouching back in his seat.
"I feel like that explains it pretty well." Tim half joked as he sat on the arm of the couch.
"So," Jay looked at you. "What's our next move?"
