"Leaving Tonight"
-The NeighbourhoodJuly 14th, 2006
6:45pmThe sunset was truly ethereal; The soft gold cascading from foreign heights cast doubt upon the definition of beauty. The delicate lashes of an eye fluttered in the warm glow, soaking up as much of the sky they yearned to see forever. The hushed whispers are barely heard, afraid to break the dainty atmosphere of the world around them.
The scent of mere nature—summer heat radiating from the setting sun.
"I think there should be a scene right here where it's really reflective—Brian should just look really reflective y'know?" Alex commented, gripping his camera.
Brian nodded at the filmmaker, standing beside the playground play-area. Tim took a drag of his cigarette as he stood next to Brian in this
set."Alright, now you go stand next to Brian." Alex pushed your shoulder gently to guide you to the right spot, your head dipping down to make sure your feet were straight.
"I feel like this should be a really sentimental moment, y'know, like the childhood trio finally getting back together and having a nice moment." Alex mentioned, your eyes locking with Tim's for a moment as the three of you positioned yourself to begin acting.
"I'm— I'm sorry but if you're just gonna hold the camera the whole time, my job is basically futile. Like, there's no reason for me to be here if you're just gonna do my job for me." Seth interrupted Alex's comments as he walked forward.
"Look, just— I'm dealing with it right now, I'll get you something to do when I get ready, all right?" Alex snapped slightly, irritation layering his words.
"I'm just saying. It's late and nobody wants to be out here shooting this fucking film. I should've been headed home an our ago." Seth crossed his arms as he gazed to Alex's direction.
"Look, just.. oh my god, look at that. Look. The sunset was perfect for a shot but noo, you just had to bitch about something and now it's gone. You know what? Just leave. The shoot is done, I'm done." Alex threw his hands in the air before grabbing his equipment, heading towards his car.
"Somebody's a little cranky." Tim snorted before putting out his cigarette.
"Yeah, no tellin'" Brian scoffed, watching as Alex left our fields of vision.

10:23amThe strong stench of rotting flesh, the odor rolling through the labyrinth of trees in the woods.
Your coughing fit began as you became conscious; throat hurting from constant, rough coughing. Your hands made contact with the forest floor as you attempted to steady yourself. Your eyes cracked open, the first thing that comes into your line of sight being the mangled corpse in front of you.
A shriveled cry left your mouth, slightly delayed by shock. You scooted yourself away from the body, eyes widened as far as humanly possible as you tried to register what happened.
You couldn't bare to look at it but it's like a car crash.
You just can't look away.
The facial features—what was left of them—wasn't familiar to you. It appeared to just be a random guy.
Your eyes made their way to your hands, another deep, unsteady breath leaving your mouth as the deep shade of crimson stained your hands, bits and chunks of the red flesh still sprinkled on your hands.
You immediately wiped your hands on your jeans, trying to get the flesh off of you. You gagged as you glanced back to the head of the body—half of the face completely gone. Bugs that inhabited the forest crawled and scurried around the body, getting their own look at what is soon to be their dinner.
Something registered in your mind as you scanned the body a little more.
Bite marks. Human teeth marks. Broken and disturbed skin that doesn't look like it could be done with a knife or any weapon you had access to.
A literal human eyeball with a bite taken out of it.
You tried to piece together what in God's name happened until it hit you.
The taste.
Cold, uncooked meat—flesh. The metallic taste that coated your throat. Almost pork-like. The taste lingered on your tongue—giving you just enough time to realize what you had done.
You heaved over, the mixture of human remains and stomach acid leaving your mouth, the horrid taste of the body parts and vomit mixed together lingering as you attempted to throw it all back up.
Tears—caused by the sheer fear and confusion you felt in that very moment—fell down your cheeks, a choked sob leaving your lips as you tried to get rid of everything in your system; as if it's a way to get rid of the sin you had committed.
Your head spun, vision blurring in and out of focus as you choked and coughed. Nothing felt familiar.
The throat was torn open, blood oozing out of places you didn't think it could—the glistening liquid thick with chunks of flesh littering it.
The stomach is what haunted you the most, the chest and lower stomach torn open like a savage animal tearing open its dinner. Intestines that never once touched while in a fully functioning—alive—body, were tangled together, barely recognizable with the damage done to it, as well as the blood discoloring it.
A hand fell upon your shoulder, your head snapping back to whoever was behind you.A frown.
Something so ominous and anxiety-ridding to you—but it's something at least a small bit familiar. Even if it is the same guy that broke into your house on multiple occasions.
Your shaky breath left your lips as your eyes met with those of the mask—him just standing there.
Though he an aura to him—one that seemed to speak, despite his current mute state.
One that seemed to state that it's time to go.
