invisible

A/N: I edited it but had to rush through to get it out. Please feel free to point out any mistakes or misuses of words that you notice and I'll fix it. Thanks!

"All four of the towns?" Sadie was gaping at me. "Rito Village, Goron City, Zora's Domain, and Gerudo Town?? But-- How do we even get that far? It's across the whole wide world! You sure?"

"It'll take a pretty long time, yeah, to visit all of them." I admitted. "But it's not as bad as you think and definitely worth it. I know four people who will fight with us for sure, and they're really, really good at fighting. Well, maybe four. I'm not sure about one of them. But probably."

I sighed. "Listen, those people were my friends once. I know what they're like. They are probably already itching for a real fight now that things had gotten this bad, but they always think of their people first, and the towns can't afford a war. Not yet. This is why none of them have made a definitive move yet."

"So what are we gonna do?"

"We're going to pull them away." I hated myself. "We will go to Revali first because there must be some way that the Rito've managed to stay invisible to the Tera. We need that in order to move forwards safely. However, he'd also be the hardest to recruit."

"And what about if we actually go to all those places and get everyone that you were talking about?"

"Once we have everyone -- hopefully -- we'd establish a hideout somewhere and plan from there. That way they'll be separate from their people, make their own decisions away from the role of someone important like a leader, and be free to fight back without involving the towns. Their people are strong even without those people, so it should be fine..."

As I spoke, I felt a chill rippling through my body. It sounded eerily similar to the Queen's move, all those years ago, but also yesterday. I wondered where she was now.

"But how will you get them to agree to come with us if they care about their people so much?" She asked. "Wouldn't that leave their towns without a leader if that's what they are to the citizens? And a valuable fighting force? You said it would be fine but maybe they don't think so."

"I don't know. But I've got to try."

I would gather up the Champions again. And this time, I would not fail them.

Well, about a week's worth of travelling later, we were standing in the Tabantha region and looked out upon the Rito Village against the morning sun. We'd been on and off horseback, in and out of carriages.  Throughout this time, Sadie had worked hard to keep up with me. She'd never complained no matter how hard I pushed her, how far I made her walk.

Perhaps she was a better fighter than I'd given her credit for. Child and adult, she was the same.

We'd encountered few monsters on our journey, all low-leveled, easy enemies to defeat. It looked as though the Tera were not using monsters as a major force, huh. Made sense, how their work was shrouded in so much mystery, and how intricately efficient their system was. Monsters were not intelligent enough for them to use.

On another note, it felt so good to be travelling again, back in the wilderness, on well-trodden dirt roads. It felt like better times despite the shadow that loomed over our heads.

Shaking off my thoughts, I led Sadie to the bridge connecting a constellation of islands leading to Rito Village. I slowed as we approached the guards watching us with a steely glint in their eyes, and I frowned.

There were more than I remembered from the other timeline at around this time, maybe five or six all clustered together over the mouth of the bridge. It was only natural considering the situation, but they all looked surprisingly tense, wary, and so unlike the only tribe that was free in these lands.
