I went to open the door expecting Dean to be standing there, annoyed that I'd been taking too long.
"Hi sorry almo-." I started before noticing it wasn't Dean at the door. It was my next door neighbor Frank. He was old but had the attitude of a 16 year old. "Oh hey Frank, I'm kind of in a rush right now", I said.
"You kids have any weed?" He asked. Frank told stories of how his whole life he was drunk or high. He lived his life exactly how he wanted.
"Sorry but no" I said, trying to hold back my laughter. Did this seventy something year old man just ask for weed?
"Coke? Anything good?" His face looked kind of disappointed.
"Unfortunately no. Sorry Frank" I laughed a bit.
"You kids are no fun" he moved his hand in a shooing motion before slowly walking back to his apartment. I laughed, closed the door then started my search for jewelry again. I found silver hoops earrings and a necklace. My phone started ringing. It was Dean so I answered. He told me he was outside, so I sprayed some perfume and made my way out to his car.
I couldn't tell it was his car until he rolled the window down. He got a new car. It was a grey car with orange racing stripes, it had orange and black rims. This is what I meant by 'attractive car'. I noticed Dean checking me out while I walked towards his car.
"Hey, my eyes are up here," I said with a smile. I got in his car and he still hadn't said anything. He was still and looked at my outfit for a while. "Can I help you?" I said with a laugh. I watched his face as his mouth curved into a smirk.
"You look good....hot" he said the last part quietly then started driving. We talked a bit on the drive to his party.
"So....why aren't you at your party?" I asked.
"I'm fashionably late," he smiled.
"To your own party?" I laughed a bit. I looked at him while he talked.
"It's not easy being this attractive. You gotta pick the outfit, and then fight with the hair a bit before throwing a hat on. You know how it is." he went on. He used his hands a lot while talking and his facial expression looked as if he was really focusing on his words. I smiled while watching him. He looked over at me and stopped talking.
"What?" His smile was confused.
"I like the way you talk" I said and let out a little giggle. He looked at me with a smile. It was like he was admiring me.
Once we got to his house there was barely anywhere for him to park. He parked in his neighbors driveway because he didn't feel like parking all the way down the street. The flashing lights and loud music made his house stand out the most. Once we walked in everyone cheered for his arrival, nearly causing me to jump out of fear.
I left Dean in his crowd of people and walked until I found Chris, I stuck with him most of the night. I reunited with some of my friends who were also Dean's friends. I found out a lot. Mara and Tyson were dating, Laura and her brother Gabe barely talked anymore but they still hung out with the same people. Chris was the first to get a buzz, he was never the best with handling alcohol.
As the night got later the more people showed up. The more I drank and the more I started losing my balance. Maybe these high heels weren't the best choice in footwear.
"Want to go sit somewhere?" Chris yelled over the music. I nodded and took his hand as he walked me to some guest room in Dean's house. He closed the door behind me, blocking out the loud music. I set my drink down on the nightstand and flopped onto the bed.
"I don't remember the last time I've had this much fun at a party" I giggled. "The dancing, music, people....... I really missed it" I said the last part quietly.
"You should come around more often, we all miss hanging out with you" Chris flopped next to me and looked at me. I looked back at him before sitting up.
"I would but with work, school, and my boyfriend. I just don't have the time for the shit we did back in the day" I leaned on the headboard and sipped on my drink.
"So?" He laughed a bit "You don't have to be around ALL the time. I'm sure Dean would want to see more of you too" He winked at me.
"Oh shut up, Dean and I are not getting back together, that's over with" I laughed a bit.
"So then why did you do what he said and come to the party with him?" he smirked because he knew he had a point. I threw a pillow at him to avoid answering.
He stood up and started walking towards the door. "All I'm saying is that you know Dean, If he wants you he'll have you. Dean always gets what he wants" He said it like he was warning me but advertising the fact that Dean always gets what he wants. I rolled my eyes at him. "You coming?" He giggled.
"I think I'm gonna stay here for a bit". After Chris left I layed on the bed, my eyes fluttering as I struggled to keep them open. The alcohol was weighing me down and soon enough my eyes were closed and I drifted off to sleep.
* * *
I woke up to the sound of Dean's voice. He shook me until I was awake.
"Mia...Mia wake up" he sounded scared. I squinted my eyes because of the bright light in the room.
"What's going on?" I ask in a confused tone. I looked around the room a bit before I saw a guy laying on the floor, curled in a ball in pain. My eyes widened and I looked back at Dean. "What happened?" I asked in a shocked tone. Dean looked at the guy on the floor then back at me.
"I need to get you out of here", he said. He grabbed my arm, tugging it gently until I got off the bed. The party was still happening. Everyone danced, drank and had a great time. I looked at Dean who looked irritated and pissed off. He gripped my hand as he pulled me through the crowds of people.
Once we got to the car he helped me in, making sure I was comfortable. I looked at him as he put my seatbelt on.
"Why are we leaving?" I asked. My words still slurred because of the amount of alcohol I had consumed. He ignored me and went to the driver's side of the car. I leaned into my seat. Drunk, confused and a little scared. I should have just stayed home.
