A couple days went by before I saw Dean again. I went over to his house because I had plans to hang out with his sister (My best friend) Elaina. I hadn't really talked to Dean over the phone or anything since he left my house the day after his party. I've been really busy with work, school and trying to continue my story for my writers class.
I've been finding it really hard to get inspired and write lately. The story I started is about a girl who has to find a way to secretly contact her family because her father kept them away from her for so long. But I just can't find the energy to write it.
I walked up the front steps to Elaina's house, towards the door and just as I was about to ring the doorbell...
"It's unlocked" A deep manly voice startled me causing me to jump of fear. I looked to see Elaina and Dean's tall muscular father sitting on the front patio.
"Oh hey Jason" I smiled at him. "You scared me" I laughed a bit.
"Mariana, You've been around long enough, call me Jay" He blew his smoke then walked up to me. I smiled at him. Jay was an intimidating man. He always wore a tight black T-shirt that showed off his biceps and Tattoos. The first time I met him I thought he was going to pull out a gun and start shooting. But he's actually a very nice man and only looks intimidating to scare other guys away from Elaina.
"Who are you here to see?" He stood in front of a door like he was a bouncer.
"Elaina Jackson" I said in a professional tone. He opened the front door.
"She's upstairs in her room, showing more attitude as usual" he rolled his eyes and stuck his cigarette in his mouth again.
"Thanks" I said and laughed a bit as I walked in the house. The house is big, spacious and clean as always. So clean the floors almost shined, but they also have cleaners come in every second day. I went up to Elaina's room. The door was wide open and boxes filled the floor. Clothes were thrown everywhere but no sight of Elaina.
"Uh- Hello?" I said as I walked in and sat on her bed.
"Oh hey Mia, care to fold some clothes and throw them in boxes for me? I'm getting the fuck out of here" She said as she marched into her walk in closet.
"Sure. Why? And where are you going?" I asked as I started to fold clothes.
"I don't know. Probably get a hotel until I find a place to live. I just need out, I need to be freed" She said. She went on these usual rampages about how she can't grow and develop with her strict dad always around or her brother is getting on her nerves for calling her out for her shit. My job was to just listen and nod. So I did.
"I just don't understand why everyone's always on my ass. I mean yeah I'm 22, no job, no boyfriend and no house. But fuck, show some respect. You know?" She looked at me for input.
"Yeah, But also you should start getting back on your feet. I mean you graduated highschool, maybe start looking for stuff you'd wanna do for a living instead of getting money from your parents all the time"I said.
"I don't know what I wanna do though" She flopped on the bed.
"I thought you were gonna get into cosmetology. You should start a course on becoming a hairdresser. The sooner you start shit the better" I said. I was the friend that had to push her to move forward. I had to talk her out of dropping out all throughout highschool.
"I guess. I don't know. Can I stay at your place tonight?" She smiled with  her eyes and looked at me. I was going to try and make plans with your brother but since you want to run away and then come back home tomorrow......
"I have to check with Bryan. He might come over" I said. I lied. Bryan and I barely had time during the day to talk now either. Last time I talked to him it was because he needed to rant about his family issues.
"Ok well let me know, I can drive there later if I can come", she said. She got up and walked out of her room to go grab drinks. I started scrolling on my phone.
"You have plans tonight?" Dean's voice was soft as he walked into the room.
"No. I think we all know you dad is going to convince her to stay before I leave" I laughed a bit. "You should come over," I suggested.
"You said your boyfriend was coming to your place" he smiled and squinted his eyes at me.
"As an excuse. If she doesn't come tonight you should come by for a bit. We could hang out and talk." I smiled into his eyes.
"I'll see. You do have a boyfriend though" he looked as if he was scared to come over because of Bryan.
"Bryan barely talks to me" I looked down then back at him. "Just come over, we could hang out"
"I'll see what I can do," he said before Elaina walked back in with drinks.
"She has a boyfriend bro, stop trying" She handed me my drink and laughed a bit. I laughed too. Dean smiled and shook his head as he got up and left the room.
The rest of the time I spent with Elaina was us talking about parties, boys and new netflix shows coming out this summer. Elaina and I have been through a lot together. We used to be a friend group of 6 with other people, but they all  moved away or became fake as fuck. I've known Elaina since the beginning of 8th grade. I started getting closer to her family when we graduated highschool, that's when everything with Dean first started.
