Chapter 18 - Reunion and True Purpose

"Hey, hey have you heard? Our country could be going to war soon."

"Haha we're always involved in some war. As long as I can keep adventuring it makes no difference who we go to war with. Besides there might be more jobs because of it"

"A war? With which country?" Tesla wondered.

He was looking at the request board when he overheard his the adventurers talking.

"Excuse me but might you know who we might go to war with?" Tesla asked.

"From what I heard it will possibly be with the Fran Kingdom."

"The Fran Kingdom? They were a midsize kingdom if Tesla recalled. Why fight a war with them. They had the backing of the two other kingdoms which when combined could rival a great nation." He thought to himself.

He would have to gather more information on this matter. Though it was early, if the opportunity he wasn't going to pass it up. Perhaps it was finally time to put his plan into motion.

After informing the girls that he there would be no quests or training today he heads off to meet Gilliano.

Giliano's Residence

It had been a little over a month since the kidnapping incident of Elni. In that time Giliano had essentially gained the wealth of a noble. He was able to expand and open various places around the country it was still expanding but hopefully it had expanded enough to have the information that Tesla sought. Merchants were good sources of information.

Tesla arrives at Giliano's place and Elni greets him.

"Hello Tesla. My father will be with you shortly. Would you like something to drink while you wait?"

"No that's alright I won't be long"

Elni nods and goes to retrieve her father.

A short wait later Giliano is sitting across from Tesla.

"I don't want to waste time so I'll get to the point. Are we preparing for war against the Fran Kingdom?"

"Yes I've been hearing about that myself."

"Why? As powerful as the Empire claims to be a war with Fran would mean fighting two other countries as well."

That's true but there are rumors going around that due to the sudden death of the King of Ateria the country might be on the path to civil war. This would be the perfect opportunity for the Empire to invade the Fran Kingdom. With Ateria in the middle of it's own war they would not be able to send reinforcements against an invasion of the Empire."

"I see" that makes sense.

"Why is such a young boy like you interested in such matters?"

Tesla stands up to leave "One day soon you'll see why."

As Tesla is riding back to the Adventurers Guild a plan is formulating in his head. It was time he head to the capital. It was time to put his war for revenge in motion. It was time to see her. It was time for their reunion.
