Sunday, December 12th
My heart soars immediately, and I practically run back upstairs.
I throw on the same pair of jeans I was wearing earlier today with a clean green t-shirt, and quickly look at myself in the mirror to make sure I don't still look like a complete mess.
The call is silent besides some shuffling from both lines as we get ready.
I silently walk down the hallway again to avoid waking up Sapnap, and make my way down the steps quietly.
I throw on a jacket and quickly put on my shoes, Patches watching me in confusion. I mouth a quick 'bye' to her before grabbing my keys and shutting the door quietly behind me.
I talk to George on the phone the entire way to the subway. Both of us walk fast, desperate to see each other again.
There's just something about him.
---
As the entrance to the underground subway comes into sight, I feel myself start to smile already.
"Where are you?" I breathe.
George's voice is quiet, it sounds like he lifted his microphone from his mouth a bit. "I see you."
My heart lifts immediately, and I start looking around.
After a few seconds, I finally see him leaning on a pole next to the stairs; his black jacket slightly camouflaged by a shadow.
I smile and lift the phone from my head. I press the end call button as I watch him.
He tries to hold back a smile, and lifts a small hand to wave at me.
I close my eyes and chuckle lightly as I shake my head. I start walking up to him and watch as he looks away immediately.
When I reach him, he looks back and fixes his gaze on me. "Can I help you?" he asks sarcastically.
I hold back a smile. "Hi, yes, do you by any chance know someone named 'George'?"
He hums and taps his finger on his lips. "No, don't think so, sorry. You'd be better off looking somewhere else."
"And what's a pretty boy like you doing outside here all by yourself this late?"
I feel a burst of pride at my own words as I see George's cheeks turning a slightly darker shade of pink. He looks away.
"Waiting for someone." he says flatly.
"Sorry to tell you, but.. I don't think they're gonna show up."
He looks back up at me as I speak, slight traces of a smile peaking at the corners of his mouth.
"Would you like to accompany me, instead?"
George hums in consideration, and nods after a few seconds. "Alright, I've made up my mind."
"And?"
"I will accompany you."
I smile at his words immediately, and sling my arm over his shoulder as we start walking.
We make our way down the steps together until we reach the bottom, finding that no one else is there.
Makes sense, considering it's like 2:30 in the morning, I think.
After waiting for a few minutes, the subway finally appears.
"Does the subway actually run 24/7?" I ask out of curiosity as we step into it.
