He had grown more masculine, and I don't know if his beards had been that bushy when we last saw each other. But his eyes still held the same aura, like he was to be feared wherever he went. His gaze was fixed on me, as if by that he'd track all my growth stages since he last saw me. The brown eyes held in them a familiar softness, a gentleness I had grown to in my early days.
I stood there, confused. Whether to be happy I was finally seeing him, or to be sad he had left the way he did. I thought I had a million things I wanted to say at the moment, but nothing came out.
The tension was made worse by the fact that nobody in the house said anything.
And the only easier word was the one that came out of my mouth.
"Dad."
And a powerful web of emotions gripped me, then tears flooded my eyes. Like the powerful spell it was, it caught my father too. In that same moment, he moved closer to me, bended a little, and locked me in a very tight embrace. His hands still had the same powerful grip, and they held me in a way that felt if he let me go I'd just disappear again. And that was still Dad's bear hug, it had been there before to remind me how much he loved me, I guess it was back to remind me that he still did.
"I missed you so much my baby," he whispered, and I think he almost was crying in there. His voice was weak.
Then I just disappeared in there altogether.
How much I had missed this man!My Daddy was back.
