I woke up queasy, I couldn't help it so I went to the bathroom and threw up. It felt horrible!
I couldn't lift my head still so I stayed in that position willing myself to let up everything.
"Hey honey, you okay? " Mum asked rubbing my back gently. I didn't even hear her walk in.
She flushed water into the toilet and helped me up.
After cleaning my mouth, we went to the sitting room; I laid on the sofa with my head resting on a pillow. My head still hurt, but my fever had dropped at least.Mum came back with a glass of water and some pills.
God, I hate being sick!
"Hey Anne, give her some food. Remember she ate nothing yesterday night. The drugs will weaken her," Grandma said making her way to where I was seated."What's with the morning sickness? Is someone growing in here?"
Grandma asked me poking my stomach a bit.
"Oh no, Grandma! " I exclaimed so shockingly, my eyes threatening to pop out.
"Come on, you can just tell me and let it be our little secret, " she whispered.
"No way Grandma, " I said sitting myself up and throwing a pillow at her.
She just laughed out loud and caught it before it hit her.
"Young lady, here's your soup. I don't know what you two are up to anyway ," Mum said walking in to the sitting room carrying a bowl.
We just caught our eyes locked together with Grandma and laughed.
"God, you two are going crazy. Anyway Linn, stay home today. Be healthy first. "
Grandma did a loud clap of victory I guess.
"She's going crazy," I told mother as I pointed to grandma.
It was 6a.m.I was watching Noobees on Nickelodeon when Grandma walked in. Mama had left for work already.
"Sick people also watch TV!" she said.
"I didn't say my eyes were sick you know, " I retorted.
"Silly child. Roll up your legs, I want to sit, " she was already setting herself on the sofa anyway.
"Are you always this crazy though Grandma? " I asked granting her space to sit.
She just laughed and swatted my arms.
"Ouch! That hurt granny, " I faked claim.
"You've grown into a beautiful lady. Tell me, do you have a boyfriend? "
I didn't expect that, I found myself gasping with my hand over my mouth.
"No. "
"Really? You having a crush on someone? "
Screwed.
"Well, kinda, " I partly whispered covering my face with my hands.
"I don't think kinda fits there. Who's it? Has he picked it up yet? " she asked curiously eyeing me.
Why me now?
Maybe telling her will help, but I hope she won't tease me about it.
"It's a bit of complex though, " I answered instead.
"Oh please, every youth wants to say it's complicated these days. Don't you have better terms? Now tell me about it, " she said, taking my left hand and placing it on hers.
So now she wants me comfortable. Sweet Granny!
"Well, he's a boy in my school in his senior year. I didn't realize it till yesterday when my friends mentioned that probably Daisy, she's my friend who has a crush on him, has made a move on him. I just felt jealous about it. Oh Granny! It's all embarrassing saying all these, " I said trying to cover my face with the other hand.
Honestly, I was expecting a very good laughter from her. She didn't.
"Oh, what's his name? "
Did she have to ask that!
"Flen, " I mumbled out.
"Is he a dog! "
"I didn't even say that grandma, " I shockingly said.
"Neither did I. I only mean to say he should be having two names. "
I laughed out first, this woman is crazy.
"Flen Norman. "
"Nice name, tell me how you feel. "
So, I told her about him from our very first encounter, the days at the river(I hid the bit of swimming).
OK, I didn't tell her everything. She told me stories of the whims of her teenage life, which I literally found amusing. She really was a storyteller, a dramatic one for this case.
We later settled on a documentary before she left saying she'll make us lunch.
It's good to be sick sometimes.
I went to my room and brought my phone to where I had been sitting.
7 unread messages; Flen and Gabriel. Don't forget to include a notification from my mobile subscription.
Maybe I should fill in more contacts.Later in the evening, Granny was asleep, Mummy wasn't back yet; I had visitors.
My team girls were here, worry spread over their faces.
"Hey girl, what happened? You didn't show up and got us all worried, " May asked.
"I was sick a bit, couldn't make it. "
Seemed like none of them had gone home, they just left school and cane straight here.
Wow!
"Oh,sorry. So, what was wrong? " Frances asked.
I told them about my fever and my uneasiness in the morning.
They sighed at the end of it.
Just then, Grandma walked into the room.
She greeted the girls, all of them introducing themselves.
"Forgive my grandchild, she's always mean," she said.
"Grandma! What have I done? "
"You haven't given the visitors anything to eat or drink at least, " she answered.
"Oh, " I sighed to realization while my friends laughed.
She's just like Mum, Visitors should be given something to eat or drink.
"Thanks granny, but we're good. In fact we should be getting home, just wanted to check on her, "Daisy dismissed.
Thank you.
I exchanged contacts with May and the others, before finally waving them goodbye.Flen texted a few minutes later asking what was wrong.
I just smiled before texting him back. Grandma pulled on a huge grin on her face, I just chuckled."Am home, " Mum declared happily, entering the house.
When did she start doing that?
She is going crazy.
