I didn't expect to find Mum at home by the time I came from school. Well, it wasn't early, but I was used to her getting home in the night at least.
"Hey Mum, I was number two, " I declared happily.
"Wow! Congratulations!" she said pulling me into a bear hug.
No one hugs better than Mummy.
"Yeah, I didn't trust myself that much though, " I admitted.
"But you did it, am proud. Wish I was there to see you though, " she said with something of a regretting tone.
"It's OK Mum, you had a genuine reason," I soothed.
"So, what do we have for supper? " I asked.
I was really hungry.
"You don't even have a favorite!" she laughed.
Well, that was true.
"Am going to your grandma tomorrow," Mum informed me.
We were watching 'Are you smarter than a 5th grader ' after having taken our meal.
"Can I go with you, it's been long," I told her. I knew what she was going to say next so I added before she could speak, "I'll just ask May for the notes afterwards, I won't be missing much. "
"I know you miss her, but you ain't going with me;school is a must," she said with a tone of finality.
I wasn't letting her win this easily though.
"I know she wants to see me as well. Since Jamie's death, it's been long. Please, can I go with you? " I was now pleading.
"Linn, this wasn't open for discussion. You'll go to school tomorrow!"
Well, that is how I ended up in my room psychologically prepared for school tomorrow. Mum is mean!
Then I saw a pop-up notification on my screen.

Oh, it's Gabby.
Who the heck was... Oh, Gabby for Gabriel! We texted for some time before someone's name appeared on the screen: Flen! He was calling!
I couldn't understand why I felt so jumpy at first, and by the time I swiped it to answer, I was kind of nervous.
Whoa-hoo! I doubt if that voice answering to Flen was mine, no way!
I didn't even notice my legs were lifted playfully on the wall, I was changing postures; swinging left and right.
When he finally said goodnight, I didn't want to let go.
Well Linn, that was new! Was that me?
I was left smiling long after the call, then I remembered I was holding Gabby up.
