"Linn!" Then a knock.
"Am coming in," the voice said.
My head felt heavy as I struggled to wake up. Then I opened my eyes and saw blurry images of a figure walking towards me.
"Hey Linn, wake up."
I felt the voice miles away though.
Then the figure shook me awake.
"You'll be late for school," she said yet again.
"Good morning Mum," I opened my mouth for the first time.
"Are you well?"
"Yes Mum I am."
"OK, get ready for school."
"How's grandma?" I asked, remembering how weak she had been last night. She couldn't even sit up steady enough, we had to gather pillows around her, then Mum spoonfed her.
"Not any better than yesterday," she said sadly.
"Mum, she's going to be fine."
"You think so?"
"I believe so."

I got late to school that Monday morning. It was 7:15a.m when I entered the school gate.
The alleys were empty of students, simply because they were in classes already.
I walked in slowly, hoping not to be questioned by any teacher about my tardiness, and it was my lucky day.
My first class should be a Business class that day I remembered, so I made my way to C5, that was the room the lesson took place.
It felt very weird walking into a class  when the teacher was already in and had started teaching.
I gave a light knock and he signaled me in.
"Next time you're late for my class, I'll send you back to where you came from."
That was bad!
It was only my first time, and probably the only time.
If he just knew how rough my weekend had been.

You're in class Linn!

The 1 hour lesson was so dull, truth be told. I saw a lot of figures, and tables and writings, and they just upset me more and more.
So when the end of the lesson break rang, I felt a huge relief.
I was the last to leave the classroom as I made my way into my third year class.
I was hoping to meet Flen in the hallway but he wasn't there.
I couldn't stop worrying because for another time today he hadn't been on.
I just hoped it hadn't been that bad.
It didn't give me any kind of peace not knowing how he was holding up.
The feeling was sickening.

I saw May ahead, standing with the trio: Miranda, Daisy, Frances.
Finally! It had been a long hard time without my best friend.
I was going to steal her away at break period and tell her just how terrible things had been for me, and just maybe how her boyfriend doesn't deserve her.

But I didn't like the expression on her face when she saw me approach. She had this angry look, directed to me because I didn't see anyone else behind me in her line of vision.

I stopped in front of them and they all just glared at me.
"May..."
But I was interrupted before I could even start.
"Let me save you the breath Linn. I know you're going to start with a long excuse, and I don't want to listen to it."
What was that?
"I don't understand." I was confused.
"Neither do I. Please tell me Linn, why are you trying to steal my boyfriend?"
Goodness!
"May! What on earth is that supposed to mean?"
"I should be asking you that! Meeting him in lone paths and giving him that little innocent look so you can get to be held in his arms. And you even had the courage to meet him behind my back during the weekend, crying in his arms! What the fuck is that Linn!"

At this point, my head went into a straight spin.
I felt my knees getting weak but was surprised to see me still standing.
Looking around, a crowd had gathered.

"You can't even say anything, can you?
I thought you were my best friend Linn. I trusted you with every part of me. The best you could do was try stealing the man I love, from me."
"It's not that May," I struggled to bring out the words.
"What is it? You want to start giving me that innocent speech, go ahead!
All you ever do best is pretend. You pretend to be polite and innocent so that everyone will like you. You pretend to care, to be so nice so you can be treated as a gentle little thing... "
