The celebration was beautiful

The celebration was beautiful. It felt like the light came rushing through my body when the first ray of sun appeared in the far. Weg led the ceremony, greeting the spring and thanking Destiny while the other Skjaldmærs stood at her sides, praising and praying to the Light in silence. The guests remained behind us and watched quietly until the sun had fully appeared and Taalen was finally awaking in the Light of the spring.

The goodbyes were short and brief, the royals wanted to head back and sleep. Weg tried to persuade Gertha to stay with us for a while, but she declined, giving her husband a side stare as she promised to come back very soon. It was hard to see her get into his carriage to go away again.

A cold shiver went down my spine when the King sat down across from her, and the door was closed.

"Did you feel that?" Rusla asked.

"Yes ..." I said, looking round. "As if something bad is crawling up to us."

The others looked around as well, trying to figure out where the bad feeling came from, we all felt it. Weg waved after the carriage and I took a deep breath when it drove through our gate, it had been the last one. Everything went well. Nobody learned about our three other guestsin hiding and Ciri was safe.

Our Queen raised her voice to order everybody to go to their work, when Katla grabbed her arm and pointed over to the gate. "Monsters! Quickly, close the gates!"

But it was already too late, the monsters managed to get on Taalen grounds. By the Light ... I've never seen so many kinds of monsters in one spot.

Ghouls.

Nekkers.

Endrega Warriors.

Foglets.

Rotfiends.

Ekimmaras.

It seemed like all kinds of species gathered and formed into a unit to attack Taalen.

Everybody grabbed what was near them, no matter if it was a weapon or a tool. Two guards pulled Weg out of the way who was closest the beasts.

"Everyone back!" I ordered as the Court of Owls got themselves ready for a fight.

Hertha pushed Katla to the side over to Weg and stepped in front of her with a sword in her hand. But the monsters were neither interested in the Queen and her guards nor the Mage or Hertha. They were walking towards us.

"Circle them!" Rusla screamed and the rest of us started to move.

Everything was such a mess, we couldn't discuss on how to move against the monsters, there was no time to talk strategy. Every single women attacked one of the beasts but there were just too many to deal with.

"They are trying to get to the castle!" Rusla screamed. "Block the way!"

"Harpies!" Hertha yelled back.
