❝I have something to lose. My heart. It would be very hard to put it back together if it would be broken by you.❞
❝I would never hurt you.❞

Lathgertha walked through the gates of Taalen just as Geralt and I arrived there. She was greeted by the guards with tears in their eyes and I let out a happy sob when the two of us hugged.
"I'm so glad, you're safe!" A tear ran down my cheek as well when we pulled apart. "We were worried sick."
Gertha smiled at me as she wiped the tear away. "I'm alright, Visna. And the child is as well. But I'm tired and I need some food. Is Weg in the castle with the others?"
I nodded eagerly, taking her hand. "I'll take you straight to her and we'll get you something to eat, the cook is already preparing lunch."
Geralt and Gertha greeted each other with a nod as we made our way over to the castle. Word had spread quickly and all Skjaldmærs shed happy tears when they saw our former Queen walk towards the castle. They greeted her with welcoming hugs and praised the Light for her safe return.
Geralt split form us as we walked through the corridors over to the dining hall, where the Queen and the Court of Owls were slowly settling for lunch. They cried out in joy when Gertha walked through the door, and we were surrounded by them within seconds. I had no idea how Gertha managed to keep tears away from her eyes, everybody around her, including me, was crying with happiness. A guard ushered away from the group to fetch her some food and water while the rest of us walked closer to the tables.
Gertha was about to sit down when the door was slammed open and Jaskier entered the room, breathing heavily. His eyes wandered around and stopped at Gertha, his face dropped in disbelieve when he saw her. She freed herself from our helping hands and ran towards him.
Jaskier rushed over to her with open arms and hugged her tight when she threw herself into his arms. She buried her face in his neck and he leaned his head against hers, closing his eyes while pulling her even closer to him.
Silence laid itself among the room, we all watched the happy reunion of the raven and the poet. It was cut with a sob, Gertha pulled away to be able to look at her beloved Jaskier.
"I'm so glad you're still here." She whispered and put her hands on his cheeks.
Jaskier gently wiped a tear away, he was on the brim of crying as well. "Did you walk all the way from Kaedwen?"
"Yes," she nodded with a smile. "It was impossible to stay there any longer – Henselt has made a deal with the Black Ones. And he would have found out about the baby in a few months and there is no way I'm going to lie and say that he's the father of my child."
"What?" Jaskier's face dropped in shock, he blinked a few times. "You're pregnant?"
Gertha smiled at him and made one step backwards, pushing the fabric of her dress underneath her belly down. She was already showing a bit but seemed to hide it well with the right clothes. "I hope she inherits her father's poetic skills."
Jaskier's face light up with love when he understood and gently laid his hand on her belly. "It's a girl?"
