Geralt frowned

Geralt frowned. „Sending the black knight after Ciri wasn't enough, was it?"

"Me coming here and Ciri arriving was just a coincidence, to be honest." Katla shrugged with a smile and offered us her cup. "Anyone want some tea? Visna, maybe?"

I stepped closer to the table and slapped the teacup out of her hand. Katla's eyes followed the ceramic that crushed at a wall once again. "Some might think you don't like my set of teacups."

"Why are you here if not for Ciri?"

"Guess I didn't speak to Tissaia, then."

Our heads turned as Weg came into the room, accompanied with Rusla and Hertha. Finally. The other Skjaldmærs aligned outside with raised weapons. I saw through the window that they were taking positions outside as well in case she would decide to flee this way.

"Correct. I'm quite good with changing my appearance." She smiled at Weg. "Oh, while we're speaking, my Queen – I wrote a letter to Henselt informing that his wife is pregnant with a girl and hasn't told him yet before I started brewing this lovely liquid." She pointed at the bottle before continuing to speak. „Figured it's only fair to tell him the truth, he already agreed to an alliance with Nilfgaard and will start to act on it very soon – I think he might have already started and his very first act that the White Flame demands is killing your former Queen, dear Lathgertha."

Weg's face dropped, not believing what she just heard. "How dare you."

Katla shrugged. "It's just business, nothing personal."

"Not personal?" Geralt shouted. "This is-"

I put my hand on his arm, preventing him to provoke Katla. Anything could happen and we needed to stay calm. I understood his anger. By the Light, I felt it too. I even wanted to kill Katla right at this moment. But we had to think rational, and the situation needed to be deescalated. "Geralt's right, this is personal." I said with a calm voice, drawing Katla's attention towards me. "Or why else did you lure the trolls to Taalen? You wanted to show off, play the hero in your sick play."

The mage shook her head. "No, I wanted you to trust me. You all had to see with your own eyes that I would stop at nothing to protect the country I was assigned to." Her eyes found Rusla. "Which didn't correlated with your visions."

"Did you teleport the monsters into the woods as well?" My sister asked.

"I did. Spent the whole week gathering them, trapping them in a cave only to release them at Taalen grounds to do their mischiefs." She smiled at Rusla. "I hypnotised them before, obviously. They should make their way to Ciri, I wanted to see how dedicated you were to safe her. But the poor beasts didn't last very long, unfortunately."

"And then you tried to kill the Queen." Hertha spat out. "Or at least led the assassin in."

Katla shrugged her shoulders. "Orders from the White Flame. Just had to put a hole into the magical barrier for a few seconds so he could teleport inside." She shook her head as if she was deeply annoyed. "This man was too stupid to do his job. But others will follow, I assure you."
