Broken

Chapter Fourteen

Dustin's POV

We had been on the road for a couple hours and Daisy had gone back to lay down about an hour ago. She had said she had a headache. I knew she didn't sleep well last night, because she had woken me up with her restlessness. I'm starting to worry about her, she seemed to have retreated into herself since last night. She has come so far since we met and I hope she doesn't turn back into that scared little girl again. We had been sitting up front of the bus and I heard some noise from the back.

"Did you guys hear that?"

"I think so. Is that Daisy?" Amber asks, concerned.

I start to get up and I hear screams coming from the back.

"NO, Stop! Please, you're hurting me. Please, Scott stop!"

I quickly run back to the bedroom and I see Daisy thrashing around and screaming. I quickly get to her on the bed and try to hold her so she doesn't hurt herself. Stroking her as I hold her.

"Shh Daisy, wake up. It's me. You are alright. He's not going to get you. Shh."

She slowly relaxes into me and I feel her wake up and she fists my shirt as she begins to sob. After a few minutes she relaxes and pulls away from me.

"I shouldn't be here. You are all in danger."

"Look at me, Daisy. You are safe with us. Colin can bring in more men for us if needed, please."

"I don't want any of you to get hurt."
"That's not going to happen."

"You don't know Scott like I do."

I hold her face in my hands and make her look at me.

"Listen Daisy, we will do everything we can to take him down and keep you safe. You are a part of our family now. We take care of our own."

"Dustin, I am so scared."

I wrap my arms around her and pull her to my chest as I lay back with ehr. Softly caressing her hair, I soon hear her breathing slow and she relaxes. I lay with her for a while trying to think about how we are going to take care of Scott. He is never going to get near her if I have anything to do with it. I will do everything within my power to keep ehr safe. Once I know she is back asleep and she doesn't seem like she is restless. I carefully move out from her and head back up front.

"Is she okay?" Jack asks as I sit down on the couch.

"Yeah, she was having a nightmare about Scott. That son of a bitch really messed her up. She has told me some things but I feel like there is more. We have got to take this guy down."

"What does he have on Daisy? Why does he want her back?" Elijah says as he leans his elbows on his knees.

"We have got to protect her." Sam says.

"This man is evil. The things I have found on him are terrible. The things that these women have said will make you want to throw up. It took a lot to find any of this. It was deeply buried. We keep a watch out for this guy once we stop and try to take him down in Florida and see what we can get out of him." Colin says as he joins the group.

"Sounds like a plan. Anything to keep my girl safe."
"I didn't realize that her ex was this bad." Jason says, shaking his head.

"Yeah, but that is her story to tell." Amber says.

"Uggh, how long are we stuck on this tin can? I'm going crazy." Sam whines as he gets up and starts pacing.

"We have five hours at least. Why don't you go take a nap or something." Jack says sternly.
