"We made it for this eventuality"

A sense of relief washed over you knowing there could be a possibility of remembering the truth. All you wanted was to understand. Everything.

"Do it" you turned to look at Bruce who sighed and motioned for you to follow him into the next room. Pretty much everyone followed you and Bruce into a room which held what looked to be a cage of sorts.

"I warn you, it will be painful y/n" Bruce opened the door and led you inside, strapping you in.

"If it means I'll remember everything then I don't care" Bucky walked over to you, taking your hand in his. He squeezed gently, giving you a small smile. Even though you had no recollection of your supposed romance with Bucky, him holding your hand gave you enough comfort and safety to know there was definitely a connection between you at some point.

Bruce placed some sort of wired hat on you and began fiddling with bits of metal and tech "Ok, we're going to close the door, everyone stand back" Bucky backed up, letting you go "it'll be alright".

Bruce shut the door and darkness consumed you. Although you couldn't see anyone, you could hear everything they were saying.

"Okay Y/n, are you ready?"

"Yes"

Bruce switched on the machine and weird noises grew from all around you. The headpiece started to buzz and grow hot as you felt it searing your hair.

Your vision grew fuzzy and pain engulfed your entire body "AHHH!" You couldn't help but scream out in agony.

"BRUCE STOP! YOU'RE HURTING HER!" You could hear Steve shouting over the noises of the machine when Bucky's voice came next "NO! SHE NEEDS TO REMEMBER!" You let out another cry as you struggled beneath the restraints; all you wanted to do was get out of there.

Banging and crying inside the torture device, your brain began flashing images in your head and soon it all when completely white.

*flashback*

"We need immediate medical assistance y/n!" You're head snapped to the entrance of the tent to where you saw three men come staggering towards you. One on each side and the other in between, limping and curled over.

"Oh my god, what happened!?" You grabbed him and gently layed him on the medical bed "a bullet caught him in his leg" one man responded as the injured fell asleep.

The scene flashed forward an hour or two.

"What's a girl like you doing on a soldiers ward?"

"What's a man like you doing being a soldier?" You smirked at him, handing him a glass of water.

"I'm Bucky" he sat up, taking the glass and smiling. "Y/n".

Words and images came and went of different conversations you had together, strengthening your bond.

"You know, when this is all over, I'm going to take you dancing" Bucky laughed, imitating a slow, tranquil dance.

"Will you now? I look forward to it" you giggled, helping him off the bed. His leg had been cleared of any wounds and he was let off with a lucky escape.

The scenes switched between you and Bucky talking, laughing, hugging and slowly falling deeply for each other.

"We should head inside soon, it's starting to rain" you squeezed Bucky's hand as you both walked through the field, just outside of the warzone.

"Absolutely not!" Bucky laughed as he began to run, pulling you behind him. "Bucky!" Laughing, you ran with him as the rain grew heavier.

"Right here" Bucky stopped and faced you "what?" Bucky smirked and suddenly wrapped his hands around your waist and picked you up.
