Before you even had the chance to move, your suit began tugging you away from the planet and back into the portal.
Colours flashed in front of you until you landed back on the surface of the time machine, along with everyone else.
"Did we get them all?"
"Are you telling me this actually worked?"
Voices spoke but you didn't know who they came from, nor did you care. Your mind was focused on one thing and one thing only.
"Y/n? Where's Tony?" Bruce quietly asked as you lifted your head to glance at him. Your expression alone was enough for them to understand.
Silence loomed over you all like a dark grey cloud, no one knew how to react.
"W-we've got the stones so we can get him back" Thor spoke up, walking around the space. His breath reeking of alcohol.
"We can get him back right?!"
"We can't get him back. It can't be undone" your voice broke as you briefly caught Thor's eye.
He began to laugh a little as you looked to him in confusion "okay- uh, look, no offence but you're a very, earthly being okay? And we're talking about space magic and "can't" seems very definitive don't you think?" Anger was surfacing in you as you turned to him.
"It can't be undone alright! It's a one way ticket! Don't believe me? Then you go and talk to the floaty guy yeah?! You go grab your hammer and you fly and talk to him!" You paused, letting the reality sink in to Thor.
You looked at Steve "it was supposed to be me" you could feel your eyes burning "he sacrificed his life for that god damn stone" Steve stood up and walked over to you as you practically fell into his arms "I tried Steve! I tried to do it myself but the son of bitch got there before me. I couldn't stop him" you started sobbing into his jacket as he gently stroked your hair "it's ok, it's not your fault".

Some time had passed and the guys were all working on the gauntlet while you sat grieving alone. It was the best way for you to cope; you had done it with Bucky and everyone who was turned to dust and now you were doing it for Tony too.
"Y/n!" Nat called you over to where they all stood around the stones. You slowly made your way over as Steve was speaking.
"Okay remember, everyone Thanos snapped away five years ago, we're just bringing them back to now, today. Don't change anything from the last five years".
Bruce took his position beside the gauntlet while the others all prepared for the worst. Steve armed his shield in front of his face, Clint had his bow at the ready, Scott engaged his helmet, you and Nat stood together with your hands out ready- you created a little ball of magic between your fingers just in case.
"FRIDAY? Activate Barn Door protocol please" Tony had prepared you for this eventuality; he showed you all the protocols he had in place, all his plans, he left you in charge of the compound if he was to ever go. You didn't listen to him half the time because you were hell bent on the fact he wasn't going to die. But thank god you listened to something.
"Yes boss" Friday replied as the windows, doors, and ceiling all locked up and a metal sheet came sliding down.
Bruce picked up the gauntlet as it adjusted to his arm size "everybody comes home" he put it on and instantly dropped to his knees in pain.
The power surged through him in a blaze of light as you all tensed up.
"Bruce are you okay?" Steve called out as the power burnt through his skin and clothes. "I'm.. Okay".
You heard a crash in the distance but put it down to the increasing growth in whatever was happening to Bruce.
He yelled out in pain as he just managed to snap his fingers before tumbling to the ground.
The gauntlet fell off his hand and lay lifeless beside him, almost destroyed, as everyone rushed over to his aid. You had expected at least something like when Thanos had done it, but this time there was nothing. No light, no sound, no power wave.
"D-did it work?" Bruce wheezed as he grabbed Thor for support. "We're not sure".
"Guys... I think it worked" Scott whispered as you looked towards the window. You had been so focused on helping Bruce that you hadn't even noticed the barn doors open or the once empty trees now filled with chirping birds.
Of course the moment was too good to revel in; above the compound, a ship was hovering, it's barrels aiming straight at you.
Almost instantaneously it began firing explosions directly as the the building as you all scurried for cover.
The floor broke beneath you and soon the entire compound was gone, not one wall remained intact. You had no idea where anyone was or what was happening, all you could do was use your magic to stop things falling on you.
Your earpiece was shattered so any voice you heard came out as segmented sounds that were too broken to form into words.
After long amounts of fighting against the ruble you came across Cap's shield. You picked it up and scanned the area for any sign of the body that was supposed to go with it and soon you saw him.
Steve was lying still on the ground on top of rocks and dirt. "No. I'm not losing another one. Wake up Cap!" You kicked him in the leg as he coughed and spluttered, sitting up.
"Thank god. Here" you handed him his shield as he thanked you, standing up with your help. "What happened?" He looked around at all the destruction.
"We messed with time, who knows what we've done. Although I have a nasty feeling we're not going to like what we find, out there" you pointed to the exit of the cave that had formed around you.
Thor was already standing there as you and Steve joined him, he was staring at something in the distance. Thanos. The old version. He was perched on a rock with his weapon sat neatly beside him.
"What's he been doing?"
"Absolutely nothing".
The stones were somewhere amongst all the demolition, with god knows who, but you knew he didn't have them and that's how you liked it to stay.
The three of you prepared for battle as you walked up to Thanos who simply watched you.
"You could not live with your own failure" his voice was surprisingly calm yet definitely taunting.
"Where did that bring you? Back to me" a smile spread across his face at the thought of him winning but was soon wiped off.
"I thought that by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But you've shown me that's impossible" you all circled him like vultures as his eyes switched between you all.
"And as long as there are those that remember what was... there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be".
"Yep, it's called stubborness" you were getting impatient with him; the more he talked, the more on edge you felt.
"I'm thankful. I now know what I must do" he stood up and you all instantly put your guards up.
"I will shred this universe down to its last atom and then... With the stones that you've collected for me, create a new one, teeming with life that knows not what it has lost, but only what it has been given. A grateful universe".
Cap spoke up from behind his shield "born out of blood!"
Thanos smiled "They'll never know it. Because you won't be alive to tell them".
