Chapter 23

SOMEONE HELP!" Tony shouted while cradling you in his arms.
He saw Natasha running over to his aid "GET THE MED BAY READY!"

He carefully picked you up and carried you back to the ship where Nat was getting everything ready.

"What's going on?!" Sam and Steve had made it back first with Bucky on their arms when they saw Tony carrying you over.
"She's not breathing.. And there's so much blood".

"What did you just say?!" Sam stood up and stormed over to Tony, he looked ready to fight anything but Bucky called out to him "Sam, stay back".

Sam stared at Bucky with fire in his eyes "what, happened?." Bucky sighed "she was hit. She- she hit something when she jumped off the ship" Sam stayed silent, confused.

"How long until we're back at the compound?" Steve turned to Nat who had agreed on driving, Tony was in no fit shape to do that. "At least half an hour" there was an eerie silence as the ship took off. Everyone pretty much towered over you. "Stay with us y/n" Tony whispered.

"Woah! What's going on?" The Avengers had burst through the door and straight up to Bruce in his lab as he took your body from Tony's hands out of habit. He subconsciously layed you on the bed, talking away to the others about what had happened.

"I don't know if I'm the best person to help. She needs a proper doctor".
Steve walked to the front of the group "we can't risk it. If just one person see's her, they'll harass her for information. It was all over the news. The doctors wont have space or time and she could-" Bruce interrupted so Steve didn't have to finish that sentence.

"I understand, but I'm still no doctor" he turned to Strange "you are though. Get supplies using your portal thing and we can help her here" Strange shook his head, looking incredibly frightened "no, no I can't do that. It's been years".

"If you don't, we could lose her" Strange looked between them all, thinking over every possibility. He sighed "fine" and opened a portal. Within seconds he had returned with a box full of medical equipment, placing it beside you.

"Everyone needs to leave. We'll take it from here" Bruce ushered everyone out and closed the door behind them as the begun the treatment.

*a couple hours later*

"How is she?" Wanda jumped up as Bruce and Strange walked into the room "weak. But fine.. If we had been just a minute later she wouldn't have... " his voice grew deep and shallow as he cut himself off, sitting down.

"She's going to make it" Strange smiled slightly, exhausted. You could feel the relief in the room as everyone was now able to relax. Well, at least for a minute...

All of a sudden Thor smashed through the door looking tired and worried. "He's coming" he panted, leaning against the door frame.

"Come again?" Tony spoke, pulling a bottle from beneath the bar.

"Thanos.. He's coming" The bottle smashed and liquid spilled everywhere as Tony froze in place.
No one said a word- what do you even say in that moment?

"Uh guys? Who is Thanmos?" Peter came out from behind the sofa as Tony's eyes fell on him "it's Thanos. And what are you doing here kid?".

"I came by earlier but you weren't here so I waited" Peter smiled with innocence behind his eyes "so who is Thanos?" He corrected the name, walking the the center of the room.

"He's uh.. He's probably the most dangerous person in the universe" Thor for once spoke quietly, fidgeting with his hammer.

"Can you really call him a person?.." Clint scoffed, trying to process it all.

"Put it this way kid, we don't stand a chance against him" Tony sighed, cleaning up the mess he had made.

"What does he want?"

"To wipe out half of humanity.." Strange stood up, drawing upon his magic to create an image for the room to see.

"We've heard the stories, battled his army. He's bad news".

"How does he plan on wiping us?" Peter was getting anxious now, his eyes fixated on Strange's magic.

"With these" he flashed an image of six coloured stones, going through each of them individually "the infinity stones- Space, Soul, Mind, Reality, Power.. And Time" he placed his hand against his chest where the time stone sat.

"He's going after them. If he gets hold of all six, it will be the end of humanity as we know it..."

Your eyes fluttered open to see Bucky sitting beside you, holding your hand. "Buck?" Your throat felt like it was on fire as you struggled to find your voice.

"Oh thank god" Bucky leaned down to hug you as you winced at his touch.
"Sorry".

Bruce walked in presumably to check up on you "oh good, you're awake" he smiled, pulling up a record of sorts.
"You took a nasty fall y/n. Recovery won't be easy but the good news is, we managed to fix any major wounds. You're alright now".
You let out a sigh, smiling and thanking Banner as he left the room.

"How are you feeling?" Bucky sat back, staring at you in concern.
"Like shit" you coughed grabbing your chest in pain.

Buck instantly went to hold you but you put your hand on his chest stopping him "I'm fine, you don't have to wait with me, go do what people your age do" you giggled trying to suppress another cough.

"Seriously y/n?" Buck rolled his eyes letting go of your arm.

"Yes, I really care about the health of the elderly" you couldn't help yourself, you laughed clutching your stomach.

"Dude you're the same age as me!" You could hear the hurt in Bucky's voice but you couldn't stop laughing "y-you're t-t-three months older" you began coughing uncontrollably again as Bucky sighed, helping you sit up "I'll let this one go because you're injured".

"So what are we going to tell y/n about Thanos? Steve stood with his arms folded, staring at Tony.

"Nothing yet. Not until we know where all the stones are and how to get them".

Bucky stood up, now also staring at Tony "are you kidding? She'll kill you if she finds out".

"She deserves to know" Wanda cut in, backing Bucky.

Steve looked around the room, sighing before agreeing with Tony "guys, Tony's right. She's too weak at the moment- we'll tell her as soon as she's stronger"

Bucky shook his head knowing he was outnumbered "fine, on your head be it".
