I wrinkled my nose as I watched the snow fall from the sky. Never in my life had I ever enjoyed cold weather, things were much easier when I was able to manipulate the weather to my preferences but Ceil had strictly forbade it after I had everyone at the manor sweating in the middle of December in England. It always felt chilling in the cold, like I couldn't quite shake the anxiousness that came with winter.

"You're not looking at what you're supposed to." Sebastian bent down to my level and whispered in my ear.

I glared cooly at him and gestured to the gathered crowd in front of me that beat me by a foot. "What do you want me to do, jump to your height?"

Sebastian merely sighed and went back to looking at whatever his stupid tall ass could see. Our little trio was on our newest goose chase which meant we were back at the townhouse in the dead of winter. Ceil also seemed irate at our current level and looked at us.

"We can't see the crime scene from here." He suddenly smirked. "I wonder if Scotland Yard will mind if we pay a closer look."

Sebastian went ahead and parted the crowd. Ceil followed after him and I trailed behind, bundled in my large black coat. At the front of the crowd were five men strung up and hanging by their feet. In front of them were the two detectives I was used to see around, one rambling about outside interferences.

"Inspector Abberline, Randall." Ceil sighed as the older man glowered.

"Come to stick your nose in my investigation." The more disagreeable of the two snapped, shifting his gaze between Ceil and Sebastian. "I should've known the Watchdog would be at my heels again."

"If the Yard had showed their competence with the Jack the Ripper case I wouldn't have to be." Ceil sighed, plucking a stack of papers from the younger detectives hand. "Hmm, seems these attacks are racially motivated. I don't enjoy the spoils brought back from India, especially from the noblemen that go over there to exploit."

Ceil handed the papers to me as he went onto goad the inspector. Sebastian read over my shoulder which usually was enough to have my skin crawling but I was preoccupied. A few days ago we had gotten a letter from the queen about attacks on multiple businesses. They typically were Indian restaurants with the owners strung up in broad daylight with the same message. Of course, it was our job to solve it.

"Here." I handed it to Sebastian before shuddering in my jacket. "I'm sure you'll do something with this."

He pocketed the note and looked at me oddly. "The cold doesn't agree with you, Alexandra."

I merely hummed back and waited for Ceil to finish his little speech.

"East End should hold some answers for us, with the population there. We could find exactly what we're looking for." He looked over his shoulder at us. "Let's go you two. I want this case over and done with fast."

Sebastian bowed his head. "Yes, young master."

I sniffed. "The sooner the better, my tits are about to freeze off!"

Ceil glared at me as we walked away from the crowd. "Am I going to have to deal with your whining much longer or will you eventually tire yourself out."

I stretched my arms until I felt a soft crack and smirked at him. "It's been fifty million years and I haven't tired myself out, ask again in another fifty million."

"It has to do with Alexandra being part cat." Sebastian spoke, looking over at me while I tried my hardest to pretend he wasn't. "They tend to favor warmer climates, don't they?"

"Some sun wouldn't hurt." I shrugged. "So, what's the plan now?"

Ceil looked at me as he was walking. "The East end is where most of the Indian immigrants live after the noblemen dump them here. The best we can do is see if anyone is willing to answer questions."
