"Geez, it's fucking cold out here." I looked warily at Ceil dressed in peasant clothes. "How are you not freezing your ass off?"
It was the next day in the middle of the night. Lau had left earlier in the morning stating he had to go deal with his girls in the opium dens. Madam Red and Grell had stayed later into the night. I was sad to see Grell leave but something told me I'd see him again soon.
"You don't like the cold do you?" Ceil asked, leaning against the wall. "Is Hell really that hot?"
I blinked at him, "I don't live in Hell Ceil."
Ceil looked at me oddly. "But Sebastian calls you the queen of hell?"
"I mean, in theory I am." I shrugged. "Human misconception, demons don't actually live in Hell. Who the fuck would want to do that, live in a pit of fire? No thanks! Us creatures of evil live in another plain of existence but have the power to go back and forth between that world and earth. The weaker ones typically stay on earth and run amuck amongst the humans."
Ceil gave a little hum and looked to be pondering what I said. He shrugged and looked back around the corner.
"You're sure this is the best spot for a stake out?" Ceil asked.
"Trust me Phantomhive, we're in the middle of everything here. Plus, Sebastian and I have sensitive hearing so we can be alert and ready to go if we hear anything."
I turned to look at the butler, expecting him to back me up but instead I caught him holding a cat within his grasp. I gasped and rushed him.
"Sebastian let the poor thing go!" I said pulling on his arm. "She doesn't like you let her go!!"
Before anything could happen a woman's scream was heard and we all snapped our heads toward the alley. Sebastian abandoned the cat and we all went running into the path, the screams were coming from a rather secluded door.
I reached the door first and threw it opened, not having enough sense to shield Ceil from the view. Watching in fascination, I saw blood splatter outward. It hit me in the face, getting all over me and my dress. For a few seconds I was witnessing a flurry of skin and blood go flying through the air in every which way, until Sebastian pulled me back that is.
"Both of you!" Sebastian grunted. He pulled Ceil by the arm just in time to have the kid puke his guts out onto the floor. I gagged in my mouth at the sight of the vomit and would've rather been staring at the body.
"Alexandra." I tore my eyes away from the grossness that was Ceil's puking and looked at Sebastian who set his jaw and looked forward. "Look."
I cocked my head to the side as a stunned Grell came walking out of the prostitutes home.
"Grell?" I looked around for his master. "Did Madame Red send you on a stakeout too?"
"No Alexandra." Sebastian looked ahead and smirked. "I believe we're looking at Jack the Ripper."
"Grell?" I laughed, "Him? That's unlikely, he's been staying with us for a week."
"She's right! You have it all wrong!" Grell protested as he stepped out completely covered in blood, "Madame Red ordered me to follow you guys I just hid in another location. I heard the scream and ran over here to help but she was already-"
"You're seriously going to try to defend yourself like that?" Sebastian asked, snickering and referring to the blood practically dripping from him
I looked at my reaper best friend hard. I knew that whatever the killer was it was most likely going to have a supernatural influence. I never once expected that the killer would be hiding right in front of me.
