Sebastian POV

"You didn't think to tell us?!"

I slammed my fist down on the wooden table beneath me as William stood at the ready to lunge at me. Between us was a fiery red Alexandra, heaving breath so unnaturally that it even made me unsettled. We had gotten swept away to the medical tent. I had turned my back to the demoness for thirty minutes, thirty minutes I figured she's be fine and instead she ruins everything and goes barreling to danger.

We had heard one of the tents collapsed from where we were in the common practice tent. I figured everything was fine until I felt Alexandra's presence start to sputter before it disappeared from my supernatural radar completely. That was enough to make me run to her while the young master trailed behind me.

When I finally got to the animal tent, William T. Spears was ripping apart the rubble of the fallen tent and had already swept a fallen and bleeding Alexandra into his arms. We followed him all the way to the medic tent where he quickly got to work trying to heal her. At first, I expected her to just pop awake until Spears revealed to the young master and I that Alexandra had contracted Giant Fever while abroad.

I could have flayed that little reaper alive.

"She swore me to secrecy." The reaper responded, clutching his scythe tighter as he glared at me. "If she wants to lie to everyone in her life and run herself into the ground, what does that have to do with me! She refused to go back to the kingdom, do you expect me to drag her there kicking and screaming myself?!"

The young master coughed, looking completely unnerved as he sat huddled under a blanket and watched the jerky rise and fall of Alexandra's chest with every croak of breath.

"She looked fine right before the tent collapsed." He coughed again, this time harder. "Did it hit her all at once?"

The reaper huffed. "She'd been hiding it from the both of you using her powers. No doubt masking her face and skin was draining her already, trying to stop the tent from collapsing on top of her was the final straw. If I'm correct as to what happened last time she was sick, Alexandra is utterly drained of powers."

I laughed, as much as William wanted to scare us I knew he was joking.

"You're kidding me, she's the most powerful thing out there." Downplaying my worry was making me feel better. "Alexandra can't just loose all her powers, she's Alexandra."

"You saw it yourself when she tried to throw me against the carriage side. Be realistic, I saw you notice that her hand was wavering while she had me pinned. You know how much pain Alexandra would have had to be in to act like that. " I thought back to what he was talking about and my heart pounded. He was right. I had noticed she had been off and wobbly but I was too scared to ask her directly about it. "That's why Giant Fever is so deadly, even to Alexandra. It strips the individual of their power and strength until the infection completely takes over and they either die or remain comatose until they gain enough power to fight back."

With gritted teeth, I looked down at Alexandra. "Then I'll repeat again, you didn't think to tell us?!"

William snorted. "What were you going to do? Order her to bed rest? Make her a tea? Alexandra would've ended up like this regardless of if you two had known or not."

"Stop it."

The three of us snapped to attention as Alexandra muttered something in her sleep. I expected to see her eyes snap open and yell at all of us for causing a fuss but instead she refused to stir, only her face getting redder and redder as her breathing became for haggard.

"Is she going to stop breathing?" The young master asked as Spears began to feel her face. "She won't die from that right? She's a demon she doesn't need to breath?"
