Sebastian POV:

"Sebastian Michaelis if you pace around one more time I will have you exorcised!"

With a hard stop, I noticed my pacing slightly back and forth. I was in the young masters study, waiting on him to finish signing a few documents before I could whisk them away. I hadn't realized I had been pacing again from my nerves while the young master finished signing them.

"You know, I really don't like that Alexandra put the idea of an exorcism into your head." I frowned as he rolled his eyes at me. "But, forgive me, I was doing it unconsciously again."

The young master merely looked back down at his papers and sighed. "That demon promised us she'd be back. She will be."

The pit in my stomach suddenly ached as he had voiced what exactly was the cause of of my nerves and anxiety. It had been three days since we had seen or heard from that demoness. In that time I had been able to nurse the young master back to health, have a splendid weekend with Lady Elizabeth, start on repairs to the manor that had gotten damaged during the fight with the circus performers, and confirm that Baron Kelvin's workhouse was a farce.

And, yet, not one sign from Alexandra that she was alive.

"Sebastian. You're doing it again."

I forced myself to stop my legs from moving.

"Apologies, young master."

I had been a mess for the past three days. I didn't need the servants or the young master, though he had readily told me every time I got on his nerves, to tell me that I was falling apart with worry. The rumors swirling the manor was that I was just so utterly in love with Alexandra that I couldn't bare to see her missing which were completely unfounded.

The real reason Alexandra's disappearance had me so wrapped in turmoil was because if she was dead, the only thing I was facing was a guillotine. The last moments we saw each other were  so chaotic I didn't stop to think. I thought that the asefotaeda she had taken was enough to keep her stable, she had eaten so much of it I was sure she was practically cured from Giant Fever! When she said to leave her behind, I thought she just needed time to build her powers or even just leave at a slower pace.

I felt my legs twitch but didn't move them as I thought of my memories of that night. I was already was away from Baron Kelvin's Manor when the explosion Alexandra caused happened. It was visible from over the tree line even miles away and my stomach sank so painfully I almost dropped the young master from where I was holding him. I went back for her as soon as I could, I knew just from seeing the inferno she created her body wouldn't have been able to handle it, but I couldn't find her body anywhere. I even searched the surrounding forest to see if she had limped off somewhere but all I found was a pool of blood which only made things worse.

"Hey who's that?!"

"What's he carrying?"

Instantly, both the young master's head and mine snapped towards the windows as we heard the servants. Even though he hid it better, I knew the young master was just as worried as I was. He would ask questions about demon healing and her sickness in passing which was enough to tell me it was on his mind.

Using my demon vision, I saw what had the servants in a frenzy more clearly but it wasn't even needed. The young master was able to see as well and the image made both of us gulp and immediately start to leave.

The human servants were idiots but they were not oblivious. They had noticed something was very much wrong with Alexandra's disappearance, it wasn't one of her usual take-offs from the manor. Even Lady Elizabeth, over the weekend we spent with her, noticed the tension between the young master and I every time Alexandra was brought. She announced her stay would extend until Alexandra was back which did nothing but make my life harder.
