Alexandra POV
"Alexandra." Ceil said.
I looked away from the window and looked Ceil right in the eyes. We had yet again been called into town and I had no idea what we were doing. Sebastian wasn't in the carriage with us but instead managing the horses. Usually it wasn't like that, but since we were apparently spending a lot of time in town, Ceil decided to give us as much distance as possible before we both had to act like a couple.
"How else do you wish to torture me Ciel Phantomhive?" I sighed, examining my nails.
"I wanted to ask you about something you said earlier." I cocked an eyebrow as Ceil brushed me off. "You said earlier you weren't supposed to be queen so why are you queen now?"
I bit the side of my cheek. "Why don't you ask the butler?"
"I want to hear it from you."
I looked Ceil in the eyes, waiting to see if I was going to get anything. He kept himself guarded yet steady and finally I sighed. I opened my palm and from it my powers swirled out and encased us in a glowing golden ball of power.
"What," Ceil paused as he reached out to touch the circle around us, "What is this?"
I reached out and touched the ball around us, smiling as my fingers pushed against it without breaking, "Demonic powers come with perks, Ceil. This makes us impenetrable and soundproof. We wouldn't want someone overhearing us, would we now?"
I smiled with the tips of my fangs poking out of my mouth. Ceil quickly dropped his hand into his lap and for a moment a look of concern passed his features. Then he was back to his monotone look.
"Well, where to start." I mused, looking out my window. "The demon empire is a bit... confusing. Women are allowed to be in politics but it's very rare. Women are mostly with their mates, but I was born into a royal family. Out of all the children my mother had I was the youngest and the only girl. Leon was the oldest of us all. In order to keep tradition, he was next in line."
Ceil nodded as I paused. My mind was racing a mile a minute as I thought of my past life. The girl that lived in my memories was almost someone else entirely. She was a ghost to me.
"My parents disliked me, I wouldn't care on the family name or further the royal family. The best they saw me as was a pawn to use for a financial marriage, but their plan didn't work out for me." My chest swelled with pride, "Phantomhive, I am one of the most powerful creatures in existence. I refused to dwindle away my power in a loveless marriage and fought my brother for the throne."
Ceil looked at me, "Looks like you won."
"Of course," I smirked at him, "My brother is powerful sure, but I got the brains and the brawn of the family. The fight was supposed to be to the death but I gave him a fate worse than that and ordered him to eternal servitude."
Ceil looked at me then turned his eyes to the ceiling. "Sebastian knows all this?"
I shrugged, "He's devils right hand man so he probably knows bits and pieces of the story. We have never been fond of each other though, even before we started living under the same roof."
"I could tell the tension stemmed past what happens at the manor," Ceil commented as he reclined bacon his seat, "Care to explain?"
"Different political beliefs," I waved my hand, "Michaelis sides with the political party that favored my father and hates me. They're heavy on traditions and such that I find utterly exhausting and dull. We don't deal with each other much as he's mostly off living the high life with the devil and I'm at the kingdom doing all his work."
