It was now dinner. All of the first years were sorted and Dumbledore was now giving his usual back to the school speech that usually consisted of a list of banned things from the caretaker filch and reminders that the Forbidden Forrest is still in fact forbidden.

The group of sixth years were sitting right in the middle of the Gryffindor table. Laurie was sitting with James to her right, Sirius to her left and Marlene was on Sirius' left. Peter, Remus and Lily were sitting opposite to them in that order.

Truth be told they hadn't listed to a single word of Dumbledores speech the only time they tuned in was when he clapped and food appeared on all of the house tables.

"Yes! Finally, seriously does he have to babble on like that every single year?" James said already stuffing his face with a chicken wing.

"Close your mouth when you eat, potter" Lily decreed.

He swallowed his food and mumbled "sorry my Lily flower"

"So back to Laurie's boy-toy thing, tell me about him," Sirius said turning his body to Laurie.

"Really, I thought we were over this" sighed Laurie.

"Well considering I didn't even know he existed till about two hours ago I can't help but feel left out" he explained.

"Why would you feel left out?" Laurie rolled her eyes.

"You told James and everyone else at this table" he pointed out.

"If it makes you feel better Peter didn't know either" Laurie said.

"Doesn't make me feel better"

"It makes me feel better knowing you didn't know either pads" said Peter.

"James knows because he came over while Dan was there that wasn't my fault" she tried to tell Sirius.

"And what about everyone else"

"I told Marlene because she was there when I met him and she even met a lovely girl there she told none of you about, I told Remus because he's Remus and you have to tell him everything and Lily didn't even know till like a week ago" she explained.

"Wow!" Sirius said sarcastically.

"What?"

"Why didn't you tell me?" He said emphasising the me.

"I don't know, I just thought about how I don't like to hear about your conquests then why would you like to hear about mine" she said frustratedly.

"Look can't we just talk about something else?" Lily asked.

Sirius huffed but nodded his head anyway.

"I'm holding quidditch tryouts next Thursday, I've already throughly thought about everything" James had become quidditch captain this year and to say he was excited was an understatement. Quidditch was James potters life.

"I'll be there" said Marlene. She had been on the team since second year along with James and Sirius.

"I don't need to go" Sirius smiled.

"What are you talking about?" Peter said.

"I don't need to go because I'm already on the team. Right James?" He said as he stretched his arm across to pat James on the back also hitting Laurie with his arm causing her to splutter forward a bit.

"No" James answered flatly.

"Exact- What!" Sirius shouted "are you joking! I'm your best mate! Remus, do you hear this?"

"It's tragic" Remus feigned sincerity but otherwise looked completely unamused and went back to reading.

"Pads if I just put you on the team what kind of captain will people think I am"

"Uhh a good one maybe, one that helps out his mates"

"You will try out just like everyone else," James said.

"Oh for fuck sake" he grumbled.

"Cheer up Sirius, you'll be fine" Laurie reassured.

"Yeah whatever"

"What about the rest of you, will you come to watch?" James asked.

"Yeah James we'll be there," said Peter.

"Good"

Dinner was over. So now everyone had gone to their dorms to get settled back in or in the case of the first year's to get settled in.

In the Marauders dorm, three of them were lying in their bed and James was brushing his teeth while walking around the dorm talking about his 'lovely Lilyflower' While there was still toothpaste in his mouth.

Their dorm looked exactly how you would imagine the room and primary living quarters of four sixteen-year-old boys.

Underwear and clothing were strung around the room per Sirius request. The room was a mess and the boys had only been back a couple of hours. Sirius believed that it was important to break the room back in especially on the first day, in his words 'its going to get messy anyways might as well save the wait'

"So what was up with you at dinner pads?" asked Peter.

"What are you talking about?" countered Sirius.

"You know, how bothered you are with the fact she didn't tell you about andy" peter explained.

"Danny" Remus slipped in.

"What?"

"The boy's name is Danny"

"You sure?"

"I am the one she wrote to so yes I'm positive"

"Why did she write you anyway she could have easily just copied what she wrote to you and sent the same thing to me" Sirius got started.

"No she couldn't have" said Remus.

"You have to stop doing that, elaborate" Sirius said pronouncing every syllable of elaborate.

Remus sighed and put down his book "your parents check your mail it's literally impossible to write to you"

"Mate we know you like her" James said.

"Like who?" Sirius looked offended.

"Laurie"

Sirius gasped and grabbed his chest.

"How dare you accuse me of such things"

"Yeah alright mate" James laughed.

"I don't like her" grumbled Sirius.
