26th December 1976Christmas day passed like every other one before. Laurie woke up in the morning and ran straight to her mother's bedroom to wake her up, she got Sirius out of bed and the three of them made it downstairs to open presents.
Laurie's mum got her clothes, makeup and other nic-nacks. She even bought Sirius some sweets and chocolates, claiming she didn't know what else to get him. The thought was there.
Laurie got Sirius a muggle record player for his dorm after seeing him constantly ask for a lend of hers. She also gave him a couple of records (her favourite artists, of course)
Sirius had a particularly tough time trying to find a gift for Laurie. When he was walking through the market he saw the most beautiful pearl necklace. It was a pearl chain with a sun-shaped, gold pendant holding the strings of pearls together. Sirius remembered when Laurie told him that her birthday was the thirteenth of June, meaning that the pearl was her birthstone.
After the gift-giving, the two teenagers went to the Potter house for a portion of the day. They also attended the annual Christmas ball that mia potter threw.

Now, just a day after Christmas the feeling of the holidays still lingered in the home. Laurie was perched on the armchair in her living room. All of the blinds were pulled down, having nobody opened them yet because it was still early.
Thalia walked in and sat on the edge of the sofa across from Laurie with her hands interlocked and her elbows on her knees. Laurie hadn't slept the night before. Thinking if what her mother could tell her the next day made her stomach fill with the nervous type pain that made her want to throw up.
"Where is Sirius?"
"In the potters."
"Oh"
"I know what you're here for and I'd appreciate it if you could skip all of the wholesome chit-chats and get straight to the point," Laurie spoke lowly and kept her eyes on the ground.
"Laurie I never wanted to hurt you by not telling you."
"Please! Mum," she begged.
"He didn't want to leave you. His family found out about us Laur and they made him do what he did." Thalia started to explain.
"Why do you make excuses for him? He left." Laurie said calmly.
"I loved him, Laurie. You have to understand that. I know he left and I'm so sorry that hurts you and that I lied, I just didn't want you to miss him. I figured that hating him was easier than missing him."
"So why did he really leave then? Tell me the truth."
"His family did find out about me. But they never knew I was pregnant, he didn't either."
Laurie began to feel tears prick in her eyes.
Thalia went on "He came from a very prestigious pureblood family. They found out he was with me and they sent him letter after letter, threat after threat but he never listened. That's when they came to take him."
The teenage girl watched as her mother started to cry.
Remembering everything about the night her family was broken apart. Laurie reached her hand over and placed it on thalias hand.
"What happened?" she whispered.
"His father and uncles found out where we lived. I was only two months along, pregnant with you so I hadn't told your father yet. They burst into our home and dragged him away from us." Thalia wiped the tears from her face "from what I know, after that, they forced him to marry within the week. She fell pregnant not long after the marriage."
"I have a sibling."
"A brother."
"I have a brother!" She smiled "Mum you have to tell me my father's name."
Her mum looked unsure for a minute. After so long of never knowing, Laurie would. She could only hope this moment would be everything she expected since she was a young girl.
"You have to promise that you won't try to meet up with him ever!" Thalia asserted.
"I promise."
"I mean it, Laurie!"
"So do I."
Thalia gulped loudly "His name is Laurence Rosier."
Laurie's mouth hung open and she started to cry. Rosier. Her father was a Rosier. And Evan, she shared a father with one of her best friends. The friend that had been helping her figure out who her dad was but this whole time they shared a father.
The stories Evan would share about his father, or I guess their father. Laurie always assumed him to be a horrible person. Evan once called him a hollow shell of a man. The stories he told never fit the description of any of the stories her mother told about the man she once loved.
How would she tell Evan? Was she allowed to tell Evan? Probably not.
"Is that why my name is Laurie? Not because of some grandmother or grandfather but a man who has no clue I exist."
"Yes," she replied simply.
"The father of one of my closest friends."
"You can't tell him about this."
"I won't." Laurie lied. "When do you leave?"
"I called a taxi before I came in here."
Laurie stood up and hugged her mum. All the tears had dried and now Laurie had all the information so she could think.
"I'm going to bed. Have fun in America."
She walked away and up the stairs. She heard Thalia shout "I love you."
But just responded "Yep."
