3rd October 1976

After skimming through just about every book about pureblood families and history in the Hogwarts library.

Laurie came up short. She had been looking for a photo of someone that resembled her or perhaps there had been documentation of a pure-blood man that was threatened to be disowned.

It was October third. In the past couple of weeks, Laurie had become completely obsessed with the idea of finding out anything she could about her father.

Her mum was being uncooperative with her about any of the details about her dad. It was driving her crazy

Laurie's mum had never been like this with her. So secretive. Usually, if Laurie asked then Thalia answered. It was like that with everything except this.

Sirius walked through the doors and scanned the library. He immediately spotted the girl he was looking for sitting in a pile of books.

Laurie noticed Sirius walk over to the table she was at.

"Hi," she said not looking up from the book she was reading.

"Hi, what are you doing?" he said while sitting down on the chair next to her.

"I'm looking for anything that could be about my dad but so far I've found fuck all" Sirius could tell she was frustrated.

"Laur don't you think you're getting a little obsessed with this" he had been truly concerned for her. Every day she read through more books she had asked Evan to scope out any information he could about anyone that could be anything to do with her.

She finally looked up from her book to him "Sirius you don't understand what it's like to not know anything about one half of you"

"I don't think you need to know him to know one half of you Laur, you're amazing, both halves," he said sincerely while taking her face in his hands.

Laurie looked him in his eyes. They hadn't been this close since the night in the quidditch tent.

A tear dropped from her eye and she hugged him tightly. She began to sob into his shoulder.

"I just wish sometimes that I was good enough for him" she cried but it was muffled.

"I know darling, you are way too good for him"

He stroked her hair and tried his best to comfort her. Though he wasn't sure how.

"Can I ask you something?" he asked quietly.

"Anything" she mumbled into his jumper.

He was sure that this would cheer her up. After all finding her father wasn't the only thing she had become obsessed with the idea of. She had been adamant about Sirius coming to stay at her house for the Christmas holidays.

"Can I stay at your house for the holidays?" he smiled when she moved her head out and looked at him.

She smiled and said "Oh Sirius Yes! Yes!"

He laughed lightly at how fast that cheered her up and how she was hugging him and smiling at him.

"Of course, you can! You didn't even have to ask" she hugged him once more.

Sirius knew he would have to go to James' for the summer. He knew that her mother was very untrusting and was incredibly adamant about keeping her and her daughter's space theirs. James had told him.

It wasn't fair to impose for too long. Not when he knew the Potter parents wanted more 'children' as opposed to Thalia who was content with her little family. Just her and Laurie.

Looking around the library Sirius became very thankful that there wasn't many in the library at all. And there was nobody anywhere near the corner they were in.

Sirius was glad that he could share this moment with her. He thought that it felt intimate in a way, that she was being so vulnerable to him and he was also being vulnerable to her.

Laurie was glad that he was there. She hadn't talked to anyone about how she felt about her father and it felt relieving to tell him and for him to understand at least to some degree.
