6 - Late Nights

Laurie was on her bed in the girls dorm. Laurie, Marlene, Lily and a girl called Mary McDonald all shared the dorm.

Mary was a beautiful girl that had dark skin and curly hair, her eyes were dark brown and she was about the same height as Laurie. She joined in with the girls most of the time but when she wasn't with them she was with Dorcas Meadows, a Ravenclaw girl.

Currently, there was only Lily and Laurie in the room and Laurie was far too busy chatting on the phone that Marlene got her.

"I can't wait to see you!" she said with an excited smile.

"When will I see you?" Danny replied.

"I get to go home for two weeks at Christmas"

"Christmas is so long away"

"Not really. It's only like three months away"

"Daniel!!" Laurie heard a woman shout on the other end of the line.

"That's my mum, I better go see what she wants. Bye Laur"

"Bye Danny" and with that, she hung up the phone and placed it on her bedside table.

"You really like him don't you?" Lily said walking into the main part of the dorm from where she was in the bathroom.

"Lily! You scared me!"

"Sorry," she said sheepishly.

"But yeah, I do like him," Laurie confessed. Answering Lily's previous question.

"You know, to be honest, I always thought you would get with Sirius at some point"

"Ha!" Laurie looked at Lily serious expression "oh, you're not joking"

"Yeah, I just thought at one point you'd just, I don't know, fit together. I mean, you're both so similar" the redhead explained.

"Really? Me and Sirius?" Laurie was dumbfounded at Lily's thoughts.

"Yeah! Your babies would be beautiful"

"Well, I think you a james' babies would be beautiful" Laurie retorted with a smug look on her face.

Lily got off her bed and sat down at the vanity all of the girls shared. She began to brush her hair and get ready to leave the dorm.

"Potter is an idiot and any woman that has his children would have to be mentally deficient" she huffed.

"I would have James potters children in a heartbeat" the brunette confessed.

Lily turned to look at her with a disgusted look on her face.

"You sicko"

"How am I the sicko when you're the one that will actually have his children. Lily that boy looks like a god" Laurie explained.

"No" was all Lily said back and it made Laurie fall into a pit of laughter on her bed.

Lily began to head to the door.

"Where are you going at this time young lady?"

It was currently 9:43 pm and Hogwarts curfew was at 1o pm.

"I have prefect duties. Marlene is in the common room if you need her but I shouldn't be back too late" the redhead explained, almost sounding like a mother.

"Right. I might head to the astronomy tower in a bit though ok?"

"Ok," Lily smiled and left the room.

It was only half an hour later but as soon as Marlene and Mary returned to the dorm Laurie decided to go to the astronomy tower.

That's where she was now. Walking up the steps of the astronomy tower.

For Laurie that was where she went to think and just relax. Astronomy was her favourite subject. She wanted to be the astronomy teacher at Hogwarts one day.

As she approached the top she heard a glass bottle clank against the floor and she watched a figure sitting on the edge of the tower.

"Hello?" she croaked out.

The figure turned around and she immediately recognised him as Sirius black.

Neither of them had talked about what happed the week before in the quidditch tent but they both had simultaneously decided to leave it alone and not talk about it.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I'll go" she rambled and went to go back down the stairs.

"No, stay?" he spoke up.

She looked at him over her shoulder, he looked a state. His hair was messy, his eyes were slightly red and the bottle of fire whiskey in his hand was half gone.

"Alright" Laurie walked over and sat beside him so her legs were dangling off the edge and her arms were crossed over the metal railing.

"Are you okay?" she asked him.

"I'm fine" he replied

"You sure, You know you can talk to me about anything right Sirius?"

He looked at her for a second then sighed.

"It's just..." Sirius thought for a few seconds as if he was debating on telling her or not "I think I'm going to run away from Grimmauld Place" he finally confessed.

"Is it that bad?" Laurie implored.

"Yeah it's fucking horrible there Laur" He took a swig from the bottle of fire whiskey then offered it to Laurie which she accepted.

He told her all about how it was in his house the pair just passing the bottle between them.

"Oh Sirius, You can always stay at mine" she offered.

"Really?"

"Yeah, there's two spare rooms because it's just me and my mum and I'm sure she wouldn't mind" Laurie smiled at Sirius.

"I was talking about it with James, he said I should go to his house"

"There next door so I'm you'll be able to see us both where ever you decide to go"

"Yeah. So why are you up here?"

"I like to come up here and think about my dad and stuff" Laurie deciphered.

"What's up with your dad?" Sirius
inquired.

"I don't know him, he's a pureblood but his family wanted rid of him if he didn't leave my mother"

"That would explain the fancy last name and big house"

"Not really. Devereux is my mum's last name and the house was my grandparents before they died"

Laurie didn't know why she felt like she could tell Sirius her full life story or why she felt like she wanted to hear his but she ignored it anyway.

"Devereux doesn't seem like the kind of name your mother would have I thought she's a hippie"

"She is, my grandparents were rich but my mum wanted no part in it"

The bottle of fire whiskey was now gone and both of them were slightly drunk.

Laurie yawned and rested her head on his shoulder. They sat like that for a bit looking at and pointing out stars.

Until they decided to go to bed.
