Ethan's POV

3 weeks after Sarah's death
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I slowly opened my eyes and peered at the ceiling. Somedays I just don't want to wake up and today was one of those days. It must've been early because it was still dark out. Ace was sleeping next to me silently. I crawled out of our makeshift bed quietly so I wouldn't wake him up. I threw on a sweatshirt and grabbed my guns and sword. I decided to name it beast. The supermarket was silent. I could tell that no one was up yet. Breanna and Ben decided a week ago that they should be a "couple" or whatever. Even Ace and I don't call us that. I walked to the entrance and opened it. Matt parked a couple of cars around the perimeter and a bus in front of the gate. We used it as a watchtower type thing to keep an eye out for any incoming zombie herds. I climbed on top and sat in the chair we put on top of the bus. Everything was quiet except for the two zombies that threw themselves into the fence. I really didn't know what to do now. I've wanted to clear out the surrounding buildings in greenvale but no one else wanted to. This was the first time we've been remotely safe.
"Hey." Breanna startled me as she climbed up the ladder and sat on the roof next to me.
"Hi." I replied morbidly. I kinda wanted to be alone for a little bit. She gave me a strange look.
"What's ur problem?" She asked as she shot the two obnoxious zombies with her silenced rifle.
"Nothing just tired." I responded but she knew I was lying. She got up and started down the ladder.
"I get it you want to be alone." She jumped off the ladder and walked back inside. The sun crept over a mountain revealing that it was probably around six. After all that happened we lost track of time but not the date. Meghan has been keeping track of the days with a calendar that's about a year old. It was around spring now which meant rain is gonna flood everywhere! We set barrels around the parking lot to catch some of it. We thought about starting a farm but that might be a little hard with concrete surrounding the place. We were already thinking about the future. Which meant that were finally settled in.
