Chapter 12: Introduction (And a Flashy One) 😎

SHINOBU POV

I was just sitting, slightly distracted when I heard Kyojuro called my name. The first presenter was already sitting in his chair. I made my way to the center. There were slight murmurs from the crowd.

"She doesn't look like him."
"Are you sure they're related?"
"It must be just a coincidence."

I cleared my throat and smiled at them. "Konichiwa, I'm Dr. Shinobu". I got so used to people calling me by my first name in the US that I introduced myself in this format. I mentally took note of this.

I was already halfway through my presentation but Giyuu and the student were not yet showing up. What's going on? Where are they? What are they doing? All these thoughts are in my head while I speak in the front.

"Before I end the presentation, here are some clips and photos of my life as a doctor." While they flashed, I went beside Mitsuri who was by the way very busy chatting with someone. I pouted. Actually, almost all of the teachers are. Hmm. A little sus.

The door opened and a girl went in. Kanae stood up from her chair and talked to her. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying.
Was she the student with Giyuu? Why was she crying? What were they talking about? Where's Giyuu by the way? The door behind me opened but I didn't look to see who went out or went in.

I resumed my place at the center of the stage, "So that's the end of the presentation, if you have any questions for me, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them all honestly." I chuckled and so were the other students.

I answered 8 questions so far and I saw Kyojuro slowly walking towards the front, "Okay, we have one more presenter for today so one last question for Dr. Shinobu. If you guys have more in mind, don't worry, you can still ask her anyway since she will be staying with us and participating in some of the activities." The girl in front raised her hand.

"Yes?" I asked her. She looked at me intensely, her face turning really red. Her hands were shaking a little bit. What's up with this girl? What's with the hostility? Or is she hurt? I started to visually check for signs and symptoms.

"I looked you up on the school's database, and your name is not there. There is no Shinobu Tomioka there. Why is your surname Tomioka? Are you married to Tomioka-sensei's cousin or brother? What is your relationship with Tomioka-sensei?" She shrieked in an accusing tone.

Oh, so that's why. I can't help but chuckle. Mitsuri was not joking when she told me that Giyuu has a lot of admirers at school and that none of them believed him when he said he's already married.

I smiled at her and opened my mouth to answer but before I could even speak a word.

"Why are these questions relevant?" The student flinched as she heard Giyuu.
"Will these somehow help you in your career?" The crowd fell silent.
"But to answer your questions, her surname is Tomioka because obviously that's her name, I don't know why you need to ask." The student blushed.
"She's not married to my cousin, and no I do not have a brother." Not by blood, anyway.

Giyuu already made his way in front, beside me.

"Lastly" He looked at me straight in the eyes and then at the student.

"She's my wife."
