"Hey Kara, can I talk to you for a minute?" Lena said, catching up to her in the hallway.

"Um, sure. What is it?" Kara stops and waits for her, then they continue walking through the halls.

"Well, I don't know how to say this but I was at that coffee shop and I overheard Jake and this guy who called himself his brother talk about you. And Kitty. Look, you don't have to believe what I'm going to say next but just keep an open mind." Lena rambled.

"Lena, what is it?"

"I heard Jake saying that Kitty offered him everything he could want that you wouldn't give him."

"Wait, is this because?"

"In other words, I can only assume that they used 'put out'? Yeah."

"Oh Ra--God. Did you hear anything else?"

"Yeah, his brother was telling him that his life would be ruined if he took up her offer and that he should be with you. Which is good, but Jake kinda kept protesting and saying that 'It was a sure thing'. Look, I'm sorry if me saying this makes you not want to talk to me but I'm telling you the truth."

"No, no I believe you. I know what Jake was like before and I've only heard rumors about what his brother was like. Thank you for telling me this. I guess you really are a good friend."

"Always. Of course." Lena replied, she walked away heading to her next class. Kara walked down the hall to her next class too.

'I can't believe it. I mean I can. Because he used to be a playboy and I knew that but I thought maybe he was changing. I know that he was talked out of sleeping with Kitty but the fact that he had to be talked out of it...

'I'm going to go to the dance with him and just tell him that if it were to happen, like really happen and the only way I can really trust him is by him being with me and only me.'

Kara sat there in her seat thinking about what was going on with Jake and Kitty that she didn't even hear the bell ring. It was the shuffle of students leaving the classroom and school that made her exit her mind.

Everyone was going home to get ready for the dance tomorrow and trying to find last-minute dates.

Lena had just transferred to the school and she hadn't made any friends here, half because she was new and the other half trying to figure out why her last name was so familiar. She didn't even think about asking anyone and she was ready to bail and stay home until she got a phone call.

"Hey Lena, are you going to the dance?" Kara asked excitedly.

"No, I'm just going to stay home."

"No! You have to go! It'll be so much fun!" Kara pleaded into the phone.

"I don't know."

"Please!"

"Okay fine." Lena smiled into the phone, "See you at the dance."

"Awesome, see you there!"

"See you there," Lena says before ending the call.
