The Fallen Calendar
The following day the boys had been working out and performed "Hot In Herre" and "Centerfold" in the choir room in preparation for the calendar. The entire time while performing it, Ryder kept looking at Lena who was smiling and laughing.
When the performance was over, he walked over to her in front of the entire class.
"Lena, do you want to go on a date this Friday?" he asked her. She looked around at the people looking at her waiting for her answer, she looked over and saw Kara talking to Jake and laughing on the other side of the room. She knew she was happy.
"Sure, I would love to." She fakes a smile.
"Great!" He yells, he hugs her, and the rest of the room claps. This pulled Kara's attention away, she looked at her best friend hugging her friend, for some reason she was upset. She didn't like how they were acting towards each other, no. How she was acting towards him. She faked a smile towards Lena who returned her fake smile.
Kara walked away a few moments later, she left because she was busy trying to find a way to talk to Jake about how she feels. Just, after school.
"When I get an emergency text to meet you in the auditorium, I assume that you're on fire or being attacked by a pack of monkeys," Jake says walking in.
"Well, I was but I have powers so I didn't feel the fire and I put it out with my freeze breath while containing the monkeys with my superspeed." Kara laughs.
"Oh, like Superman?"
"Yes, exactly."
"Well, I can be your Superman. I tried a couple of weeks ago when I sang you that song." Jake says, trying to make her laugh again.
"Oh god, don't say that." She says with a small, disgusted shiver, "I never want to be with Cla-Superman." Kara says looking back at the music sheets she has in front of her.
"Is Superman not your type or something?" Jake jokes.
"That's one way of putting it." She mutters under her breath, "Here, I wanted to sing this song, maybe for Regionals? I kind of have to make up for Sectionals."
"No you don't, everyone's cool with you now." She just looks at him, "Okay no they're not. But I love this song."
They begin to sing "A Thousand Years" to each other walking closer and moving around the stage.
Lena walks past the auditorium after going to class because she forgot her notebook. She walks in slightly as Kara looks towards Jake then steps away to look toward the middle of the auditorium.
Lena moves out of her eye line and listens to Kara continue to sing. But Kara noticed something or someone move, she looked and saw her hiding but Jake pulled her gaze away. Back to the song and him.
They finished the song looking into each other's eyes. They closed the small distance and kissed for a moment. This made Lena walk out and head back to her car with her notebook hanging in her hand.
'Why am I upset? I just saw my friend sing a romantic song to her boyfriend, there's nothing wrong with that. She is just a friend.' Lena says to herself.
Back in the auditorium, "I love..." Kara starts and fixes her glasses but looks away towards the door in the audience. "I love this song, but I don't think it's right for Regionals," Kara says before walking away down the stairs and out the same door that Lena was standing at.
'Did she leave? Why was she here? Did she want to talk to me? I don't know. I should talk to her about it, no I shouldn't? Why do I want to know what she was doing? It's not like.... What is it not like?' Kara asked herself standing in the hallway looking towards the doors.
