A few days passed, Lena came over every day after school to give Kara her homework and help her figure out what really happened but they got nowhere. Alex stopped by and got the kryptonite from Lena's car and the little tin box she stashed in front of Kara's house. Once she took it, she only stayed for a few minutes before she had to leave to drop it off for Clark to pick it up.

"Kara, I'm so sorry I couldn't be here. And I have to get back but are you okay?" Alex asked, holding her sister's hands.

"Yeah, I'm fine but I want to get back to normal again." She responded, brushing her off. Alex took that as her sign to go and left without another word.

Kara stood with a hand on her hip and her other rubbing the side of her head. She looked at the floor with her mind racing, with no clear thought in sight.

Lena stood next to her with her arms crossed with only one thought in her mind, "How can I help her?" Lena looked directly at Kara, never looking away.

After a few minutes, Lena broke the silence. "So you're going back to school tomorrow, are you ready?"

"Yeah, I am. And the last few days made me realize that I haven't really talked to Jake yet since Guilty Pleasure Week. There's just something I have to talk about with him." Kara admitted.

"If you need anything, I'm here for you. El Mayarah," Lena comforted her, Kara nodded her head and smiled.

The Next Day

"Kara! It's great to see you back," Lena called out after her as she arrived in the halls of the school. Kara stopped and turned around to face her with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm glad to be back."

"So, I got you something and I wanted to give it to you after our duet but everything happened but I think you should have it now," Lena said, holding a pin in her hand.

Kara looked down at her hand, Lena set it in Kara's palm. Kara kept her hand open, looking at the pin in her hand.

"Lena-" Kara started before Lena interrupted her.

"I know what it is, and it's your cousin's but maybe it can be a symbol of you and your family on Krypton. And maybe a new family here on Earth."

The pin in her hand was the crest of the house of El, memories of her mother and father flashed in her mind. How much she missed them and wanted to desperately see them again. Her eyes began to fill with tears, one tear fell before she met Lena's gaze again.

"Oh Lena, thank you. You don't know what this means to me," Before she let Lena respond, she pulled her into a tight hug. "Lena, you are my family and I'm never letting you go. I know we haven't been friends for really long, but you're my best friend and my family."

They pulled back just enough to hold onto each other's forearms. Kara's eyes became overwhelmed with tears until they broke free, falling on her face.

Lena's eyes began to water, taking in her words. "Kara, you know my family is, my family is my family and they are the worst." Kara stopped her.

"They are not the worst," She tried to defend for her.

"No, they are the worst. Lex is insane and obsessed with your cousin, Lionel was horrible and so was Lilian. The only good person I had was my mother, but I lost her when I was four. I have been without any real, trustworthy people since then and then you showed up. You have been the family I always wanted." Lena admitted, she'd never told anyone about her mother before.

"You didn't tell me about your mother," Kara responded.

"I'm not a very open person but I'm trying to be, with you at least. You make me want to open up and be more honest with others. It's hard but with you, it just comes easier." Lena told her, Kara didn't respond except to pull her back into a hug. Unfortunately, the hug couldn't last long because the bell rang signifying the start of their first class.
