I Remember You Chapter 31 The Wedding

Four months later.....

The clamor of distant music and muffled voices could be heard from the third floor of the venue. As I looked out the window and watched the numerous guests take their seats, my palms began to sweat and my heart began beating rapidly as the seconds ticked by before I was no longer Annabeth McGuire. I will be Annabeth Hill after an exchanging of words and rings. After long tormenting months and a long explanation to our parents, the day has finally come.

The door behind me creaked open and a series of giggles followed suit before I felt a warm hand on my back. I looked over my shoulder and saw Skylar smiling at me as she handed me a tall glass of champagne.

I raised an eyebrow at her playfully and she rolled her eyes, "Don't worry. It's JUST champagne" she said and we laughed before I took the glass and faced the wonderful women before me.

Skylar cut her blonde hair to end at her shoulders and it was pulled into a low bun. Sabrina had some of her hair wrapped in braids like an ancient Fairy queen and her straightened strands laid flat on her back. Emily cut off the blue in her hair and set her curls free with a braided halo around her head. Finally, Vanessa's flaming red hair was styled in loose waves framing her face.

All of my girls wore the same form-fitting rose dress with a slit on their left leg and sweetheart neckline and nude heels. Their heads are decorated with a flower crown of small light pink and white flowers. Of course we were missing one more face. My heat ached at the memory of Melody. Her funeral was beautiful but struggling to get through and it's moments like these where her absence is at its strongest.

Emily, sensing my mood, stepped forward and took my hand. "Don't make that face. Melody may not be here but her spirit is and as she watches over us today, she wouldn't want you to be sad that she's gone. You're about to get married. Focus on that" she said encouragingly.

I felt a tug in the back of my eyes and blinked my tears away. I will not ruin my makeup. Melody wasn't the one who did it but I can already hear her scolding if a tear managed to escape. "You're right Em. You look gorgeous. You all look gorgeous and I'm so happy I have you all at my side" I told them with a beaming smile.

"Us? Girl have you seen yourself? You look divine" Vanessa gushed and carefully pulled me to the nearest mirror in the room.

I gasped softly as I stared at myself in disbelief. I almost didn't recognize the woman staring back at me. My brunette curls fell around my face plainly but decorated with glitter and tiny flowers but the icing on top is the small tiara that sat on my head. My dress was long-sleeved with a sweetheart neckline, lace embellishments ran down my arms and along my full skirt and long train. The fit on my torso pushed my breasts up just enough for it to be tasteful. I've gained my weight back after my reawakening and unlike my bridesmaids, whose make up turned to of a more subtle and natural approach, mine was dramatic with a dark pink smoky shadow and cat eye liquid liner.

"Wow" I breathed and stood upright.

"Wow is right and I would love to stand here and admire all of our beauty but Anna, your mother just texted me saying that they're about to start" Skylar chimed excitedly, putting her phone back in her clutch.

I nodded and we all clinked our glass before downing our drinks and placing our glasses on a table nearby. The girls walked out first and I followed close behind. Descending the stairs, I started to recollect all the memories I've experienced that helped lead me to this day. Caleb coming back, meeting my new close friends, learning to love and remember Caleb, having my body taken over by a dead spirit, fighting off Chase, losing Melody in the process, and finally regaining my memories. I don't regret any of it. I would repeat all of my mistakes because it's made me the strong woman I am today.
