Caleb's POV

I want a night
with you.

I want to close
 the curtains.

I want to lay in bed
and feel you breathing.

I want the only noise
to be my inhale
replying to your exhale.

I want to trace my fingers
 along every line and curve

of your back.

I want to feel your face

buried into my neck.

I want to lay like this

and feel every worry
 melt

the same way that I melt

when I am with you

I wrote in my journal. It's 3 am and its freezing cold in our room. I'm in my blue pajama pants while Anna slept in our warm cozy bed, wrapped in the blankets like a shivering puppy. I smiled while looking at her sleeping form. Her breathing was heavy because for the past 2 days, she's got a cold and cant really breathe through her nose unless she blows out the boogers first.

Her hair is in a messy bun and I can see her pink sweatshirt from under the covers. She has her head on my lap while I sat up and used her back as a table. I then remembered a song that she loves by Ron Pope and decided to sing it to her while she slept.

"A drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven

I don't wanna waste the weekend
If you don't love me pretend
A few more hours then it's time to go

As my train rolls down the east coast I wonder how you keep warm
It's too late to cry
Too broken to move on

And still I can't let you be
Most nights I hardly sleep
Don't take what you don't need from me

It's just a drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven

Misplaced trust in old friends
Never counting regrets
By the grace of God I do not rest at all

And New England as the leaves change
The last excuse that I'll claim
I was a boy who loved a woman like a little girl

And still I can't let you be
Most nights I hardly sleep
Don't take what you don't need from me

It's just a drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my...

Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore
No
No
Heaven doesn't seem far away

Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore
No
No
Heaven doesn't seem far away
Oh
Oh

A drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven
You are my heaven"

I moved my hands through her soft hair and massaged her scalp as she continued to sleep. I started to go back to the summer when I first met her. I saw her fall really hard onto the floor, ruining her dress with dirt and her face. But even with all that dirt on her, she still looked beautiful.

I remembered our sleepovers, the secrets we told, the snacks we shared, the way her hair blew in the wind, her laugh, the bows she'd wear, she still sleeps the same way. I remembered the night I left and I hate myself for leaving cause I shouldve gotten hurt and not her and Skylar. She shouldnt even have been awake to see me. I was just going to leave. But she found me.

She told me she loved me and I told her I loved her too. I leaned a little to my nightstand and opened my first drawer. I gently reached my hand in a felt the small chain I cling to before we were reunited. I pulled it out quietly and held it in my hand. Her heart shaped locket was still sparkling and cold from the house's temperature. I moved my thumb along her name that was engraved in the front. I opened it and saw a picture of her when she was 7. She lost a tooth during school so she had a small gap but she looked so proud of herself.
