Third Person's POV:

Gaby was walking toward Cobra Kai when she saw Tory talking to her aunt right outside the dojo.

Gaby rolled her eyes as she approached them, knowing exactly what Tory's aunt was bothering her about.

"I was at little Bobby's fourth birthday party just last year," her aunt said.

"Brandon is eight," Gaby corrected, "And next year Tory's gonna be 18."

Tory's aunt chuckled, "You really think she's gonna win a custody battle over me? She's a high school dropout and a criminal."

"So are you," Tory retorted defensively.

"Yeah, but I know how to play the game. A judge is gonna take one look at you and laugh you straight out of court, no matter how clean your girlfriend's record might be. See you at the funeral, sweetheart. Tick Tock," her aunt replied before walking away.

Gaby rolled her eyes, "Don't listen to her, no one in their right mind would give her custody over a child."

"Yeah, but she's still right," Tory said.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that no judge would grant me custody over Brandon either, I'm not in school, I can't keep a job, and I have a history of violence and crime. If I don't do something, then Brandon's gonna end up an orphan. I can't let that happen."

"That's not going to happen, okay? We'll figure something out," Gaby reassured.

Tory nodded, "I think the first step should be going back to school, I just don't know how to do that."

"We can try applying to other schools, but I'm pretty sure all schools require a parent or guardian to be a part of the process. So unless you want to tell your mom, that's not really an option."

"No, that'll just stress her out. What about West Valley High? Maybe we can talk to the principal and explain everything," Tory suggested.

Gaby nodded, "Yeah, that's a good idea. He already has all your documents, so you actually becoming a student there again shouldn't be too hard. Let's just hope he's understanding."

The couple walked in through the school's doors and went to the main office.

"Hello, how can I help you?" the lady behind the front desk asked.

"Can we see Principal Garcia? We need to talk to him," Gaby asked.

"Go ahead, he's not busy right now," the lady said before buzzing them in.

Gaby and Tory down the hallway and knocked on the door to the principal's office.

"Come in," he said from behind the door.

They opened the door and walked in, "To what do I owe the pleasure, Ladies?" Principal Garcia asked.

Tory looked at him nervously, "My name is Tory Nichols, I used to go here-"

"And you got expelled after the fight, I'm well aware. I'm assuming you would like to be allowed back?"

Tory nodded and he continued, "Unfortunately, I'd need to speak with a parent or guardian before even considering it. Not to mention that your offense was very serious."

Gaby saw Tory's face fall and grabbed her hand, squeezing it reassuringly.

"Can I at least explain why it happened? I just need you to hear me out," Tory pleaded.

The principal gave her a look of sympathy and sighed, "Alright, I'll let you explain. Go ahead."

"Thank you, sir. My mom is really sick, she has been for a long time, and I work a lot so that I can provide for her and my brother. Some days I get really stressed out because of it, when that happens it's hard to not lash out. The day of the fight was one of those days, I got overwhelmed with everything going on and I took it all out on someone I was mad at."
