4.11) The Start of Redemption

Third Person's POV:

After getting taken to the hospital, the doctor told Gaby's mom and grandma that she had passed out from excessive dehydration and exhaustion.

The doctor also said that they wanted to keep Gaby there for another 24 hours so that they could monitor her and make sure she was okay. So, that's exactly where she was.

It was around 8 pm, 6 hours after the tournament had ended, and Gaby was asleep on her hospital bed. Tory, Krystal, and Isabella had all gone down to the cafeteria, leaving just Sam who had also been there for the past 6 hours.  

As she sat next to Gaby's bed, all she could feel was guilt and concern for her former girlfriend and best friend. None of this would be happening if she hadn't kissed Robby. Gaby wouldn't have been vulnerable and she wouldn't have fallen for Kreese's tricks. This was all her fault.

At least that's what she thought. However, while Sam's actions definitely played a big role, Kreese had already started his manipulations on Gaby before that. It wasn't too late to fix things, for either of them. 

Gaby groaned quietly as her eyes fluttered open. The first thing she heard was the beeping of the heart monitor and it took her a second to figure out that she was laying on a hospital bed.

She turned her head, looking over to the left, and immediately saw Samantha LaRusso sitting next to her bed, her eyes wide in surprise. 

"What are you doing here?" Gaby asked, her voice croaking slightly.

After a moment of sitting there in shock, Sam quickly leaned over to the table next to the hospital bed and handed Gaby a cup of water.

Gaby quickly drank the water and Sam looked down at her lap nervously. 

Once Gaby finished drinking the water, she set the cup down on the table, "You didn't answer my question."

Sam nodded, "Right, um, you passed out after our match. The doctors say you were dehydrated and sleep-deprived."

"Yeah, okay, why are you here, though? I thought I made it clear that we're not friends," Gaby said harshly.

"I know, and you have every right to be upset with me. I just... you're hurting yourself, Gaby, even if you're not doing it on purpose. And you're doing it because of me, because I hurt you, and that's not okay," Sam explained and Gaby scoffed in disbelief.

"The world doesn't revolve around you Sam."

"You're right, but Tory and I were talking while you were asleep and she told me that you've been obsessed with the tournament lately," Sam replied, "You can't tell me that it wasn't because you wanted to beat me. You've called me your enemy multiple times, and I'm the only one that actually hurt you. It had to have been because of me, and I don't want that. I don't want you to hurt because of me."

Gaby's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "Since when do you and Tory talk?"

"Since you passed out in front of everyone because you haven't been taking care of yourself. She's really worried about you, Gaby, and so am I," Sam answered.

"So what? You here because you wanna be friends again?" Gaby asked incredulously.

"No," Sam shook her head, "I'm here because I wanna explain myself. Maybe if you know my side of things, then you'll stop hyper-fixating on it. Maybe it'll give you closure. I don't know. All I know is that I want you to take care of yourself."

"Fine," Gaby relented, "but don't expect us to get along after this."

Sam nodded and took a deep breath before talking again, "Okay. Well, first of all, I want to apologize. For what I did at the beach club last year and for kissing Robby. Neither of those things should have happened, but they did and I'm sorry."
