Third Person's POV:

Gaby was helping Tory practice her punches while Kyler talked to his friends loudly.

"I'm telling you man, when I get in ASU, honeys are gonna be lining up for this snack."

After a few minutes of listening to him, Tory stops hitting the punching pads and walks up to Kyler and his friends.

"You guys are pathetic. If you'd handled your business, we would have won the fight," Tory accused.

"Okay, whatever. Hawk, he switched sides," Kyler said, trying to switch the blame.

"Wait, what? When did that happen?" Gaby asked.

"Right in the middle of the fight. He's why we lost," Kyler defended himself.

"Bullsh*t, Miguel just got out of a wheelchair and you couldn't even handle him," Tory argued angrily.

"Well, at least I'm still here. Half the squad quit," Kyler retorted right before Robby walked in.

"Well look who showed up," Tory spat at him while he walked into the gym area.

"That guy doesn't even train, yet he gets to stay here. I don't get it," Kyler complained.

Gaby scoffed, "Yeah, said the rich guy."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Kyler asked, raising his voice slightly.

"What do you think it means, Kyler? Use your brain for once," Gaby responded before walking towards the gym area.

"Hey, how's your forehead?" Gaby asked Robby.

He looked up from his duffle bag and replied, "It's fine, just a scar. What about you? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. It was just a minor concussion."

"I wouldn't exactly call that fine," Robby said in concern.

Gaby chuckled, "Trust me, I've had worse injuries while doing karate."

"Well, I'm glad your okay, but I don't think I can do this," Robby said.

Gaby furrowed her eyebrows and asked, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, I don't want to be a pawn in a battle against my dad and Mr. LaRusso," Robby explained.

"You're not a pawn, Robby," Gaby reassured.

"Okay, then what about you? You're okay with being used?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about how you're basically Mr. LaRusso's niece, you grew up learning Miyagi-Do, and you were my dad's second student. You really think that you being here isn't some f*cked up way of Kreese messing with them?"

"No, I don't. Because I chose to stay, just like I chose to join. Sensei doesn't think of us as pawns, we wants us to win," Gaby argued.

"Win what, Gaby?" Robby asked in exasperation.

"Life! Because life has winners and losers, Robby. Losers let people walk all over them; they get cheated, and betrayed, and abandoned. Winners get back at the people who have wronged them. Winners don't let them move on with other people and ignore the pain that they caused. Don't let your dad make you a loser," Gaby said firmly before walking back into the main dojo area.

Later that night, Gaby was sitting on the couch in her apartment, working on an essay for AP Spanish.

"¿Mija, puedes botar la basura?" ("Can you throw away the trash?") Krystal asked Gaby while she cooked dinner.

"Sí, Mami," ("Yes, Mom,") Gaby replied before going into the kitchen and grabbing the trash bag.
