Athena ran through the streets with Jax and Max running alongside, tongues out loving the run they were getting.

She didn't know where she was heading so she began to slow down till she ended up walking along, the boys panting heavily beside her.

Jax was clearly tired as he plonked himself down on the floor and lay down on his side, Max flopped down next to him as Athena looked down and laughed slightly.

"You can't be tired already." she said laughing.

Max responded by resting his head on the ground between his paws.

"Apparently you can." She laughed again as she bent down and gently stroked his head.

The dogs heads both shot up as they watched a figure come closer. They knew that scent.

Athena looked up following their gaze and saw Ace and Eyeball further along the street, seriously, these guys again?

Jax began a low growl as he stood up and moved himself in front of Athena. Athena watched as Ace said something to Eyeball and crossed the street, both dogs watching every move as he went inside what looked like a dinghy bar with an Irbys sign above it.

Their growling stopped the moment the door shut as they turned back to Eyeball, who was now approaching their owner.

Athena stood up and faced him, keeping a tight grip on the chains for the dogs.

"They really don't like him do they?" He asked laughing as he reached her.

She hesitated an answer as he crouched down and the dogs allowed him to gently scratch their heads.

"They can sense things about people, whether they're good or bad. They don't trust him." She replied.

Eyeball looked up and gave her a cheeky smile.

"Yet they trust me?" He asked cockily.

She laughed slightly and shrugged.

"Apparently so." She said as Max began licking his hand.

Eyeball smiled and stood up, facing her.

"Look I gotta ask, Ace wants to know, who are you and why were you with that kid?"

Athena gently gave the boys chains a gentle tug and they fell in line beside her as she began walking along, Eyeball by her side.

"You can tell Ace I'm not here for long. Me and my dad are only here for..." her voice trailed off as her mind went to Denny.

"For?" Eyeball asked slowly, sensing the reason wasn't a pleasant one.

"Gordie's my cousin." She said slowly, hoping he'd get the hint.

He did.

"Ohh." He mumbled, "Denny."

She nodded slowly and looked down at the ground. Jax began licking her hand, sensing her pain.

"We're here for the anniversary. Suppose it's about time I actually see his grave."

Eyeball looked at her confused.

"You didn't come for the funeral?"

She shook her head slowly, looking up at him.

"I couldn't get it off work, I was still in training and wanted to pass badly so forced myself to stay."

He nodded slowly, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Oh yeah, the cop." He mumbled.

She laughed.
