Cop VS Criminal - Eyeball Chambers

Danny walked out the office with the Sheriff behind him. Yet to Athena and McKenzie's surprise and joy they saw Danny's hands locked together in a pair of silver handcuffs.

They tried to hide their excitement as the Sheriff stepped forward.

"Officer Jones. Escort Danny to one of the cells if you mind."

Jack gulped and slowly nodded as he stepped forward and gently took Danny's arm, guiding him along.

The Sheriff sighed and he stepped forward and looked down at Athena.

"You know the rules about cops dating criminals?" He asked.

She nodded slowly. This was it. She was going to have to end with Eyeball to keep her job.

McKenzie quickly piped up. "What about ex-criminals?"

The Sheriff turned to him in slight surprise.

"You knew about this McKenzie?" He asked.

McKenzie gulped slightly but nodded. "Yes Sir."

The Sheriff sighed and grumbled again. "He better be clean Lachance. I want you here first thing tomorrow." He grumbled as he turned and headed back in the office, almost slamming it shut.

The moment it closed McKenzie came rushing around and swept up Athena in his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck and let him spin her around.

"You fucking did it K9!" He mumbled into her neck as he spun her around before placing her down and pulling away.

"You think he's okay about Eyeball?" She asked as she faced the Sheriff's shut door.

"Fuck knows K9. Best bet is to just leave it for today and find out tomorrow. Get home and chill for the day and come back tomorrow."

She turned back to him and he nodded quickly. A smile appeared on her face as she leapt up and gently pressed a kiss on his cheek.

"I love you Kenzie."

"Ooo don't let Chambers hear that." He said laughing as he smirked down at her displeased face.

"I hate you Kenzie." She mumbled as she pulled away and headed towards the door.

"Keep telling yourself that K9!" He half shouted as she smiled turning back to him.

"You free tonight?" She asked.

A smirk came over his face. "Thought you'd never ask. I'll be there after my shift."

She smiled and waved as she head off outside. The smile evident on her face as she began walking home slowly, never had she felt so relaxed in Castle Rock.

The fresh air actually smelt clean, flowers actually looked brighter as she couldn't help herself but buy a bunch. Talking her sweet time she continued to walk up and down different streets.

Passing her father and Gordie's dad's business she saw them stood outside. Her eyes locked with her dads as he smiled warmly at her, she smiled in return as a father and daughter silent conversation was had. They had made the right choice staying.

Athena carried on walking as she paid for a quick sandwich off a stall. She finished it as she slowly continued to explore Castle Rock, never once wiping the smile from her face.

She found herself at the high school just as the kids were slowly piling out at the end of their day. Looking around she saw various other parents waiting and pulling their kids away.

Glancing through them she finally saw Chris, Teddy, Vern and Gordie all laughing together. Vern saw her first and quickly nudged to the others.
