Athena and Gordie soon saw Eyeball and Ace comparing sheets of paper, her father stood between them holding even more in his hands.

All three looked up and smiled seeing her approach. Her dad scooped both her and Gordie up in a tight hug as they reached them before Athena pulled away and turned to Eyeball.

"I'm sorry about-"

He held a hand up silencing her. "Forget it Chambers. I get it don't worry." He said with a cheeky smile.

Athena smiled but shook her head. "I'm not a Chambers yet."

Eyeball took her left hand in his and brought it up to his mouth and gently kissed it.

"Not yet." He said with a smile and wink.

"Ew."

The pair looked down at Gordie who pulled a disgusted face.

"Shut up cobra-in-law." Ace said as he laughed down at the young boy.

Gordie was about to retaliate but Athena's dad held his hands up.

"Crew let's focus shall we?" He said to all of them.

Reluctantly they all nodded as Athena held the paper up to Eyeball.

"Shall we?" She asked.

"You got it, officer beautiful." He winked again.

She laughed as she let him hold her hand tightly and pull her along the street. This was going to be a long day.

~~~
True to her belief it was a long day.
It was a long night where she found herself crying herself to sleep again.
It was a long day the next day too.
She spent the entire day at the station with McKenzie, the Sheriff and various other officers trying to sort out their petitions.
Each officer had also provided statements regarding the dogs. They'd also provided character references for Athena too, not happy with the Chambers boys but determined to help a fellow officer in blue.
Eyeball's boss had appeared and given an official character statement on him too.
The Sheriff told Athena about the dogs being clearly unhappy about being away from her but they'd settled down when Chris helped the officers in the state over.
The Sheriff had noticed how the dogs relaxed at Chris's presence. He'd gotten the other officers to write official statements seeing the dogs reactions.
Chris had been placed with a husband and wife unable to have children and were desperate to adopt.
The Sheriff had told her how loving they'd been over the boy and accepted his troubled past. And they'd seemed interested in trying to fight to keep him.
Athena didn't like hearing it but felt somewhat comforted knowing he was safe and okay.
Eyeball had officially gone into 'father mode' he spent all his free time ensuring the house was up to code with raising a child. Each cobra played their part in helping him.
Athena spent every day at the station, compiling everything and anything she could on the whole situation. Every statement. Every petition page. Every criminal file on the view guys.
McKenzie remained at her side and gave her every supportive comment he could. She'd needed his help with sorting all the files but he'd made her compromise.
She had to start planning a wedding for him to help.
She gave in.
Each time they'd successfully sorted one file he made her make a decision on something she wanted.
