Star's P.O.V.

"Hi, baby. What's wrong?" I sigh and look away. After I tweaked with a few things on the table, there was a knock on the door. I knew it was Billie. I tried my best not to look so irritated but my resting bitch face doesn't exactly help. "Uh, nothing. Just a little nervous I guess." I lie. Billie looked into my eyes and she knew I was lying but she didn't wanna add to the problem.

"You sure you okay baby?" I gave her a small smile and nodded. She presses her lips against mines then pulls away, giving me a small peck. I grabbed her hand and led her into the dining room. "Billie is going to be joining us." I announce. My dad glares at her then looks at me. My eyes wander to the floor then to my right then up at my mom. She gives me and Billie a small smile. "Excuse us. You girls can get settled. We'll be back." My mom says.

I nod and watch her and my dad disappear into the kitchen. Billie sighs then slowly walk over to me. She holds my stomach in both hands and lightly pulls me towards her. "Your dad hates my guts." I chuckle and look up at her. "No he doesn't." I mumble. She scoffs and smiles at me. "He definitely does." "He doesn't. He's just...him." We both laugh. When our laughter dies down she stares down at me lovingly. "I love you Star."

I smile wide and say, "I love you too Billie." Right before she bends down to kiss me, we hear footsteps. She carefully pushes me away and goes to the table to pull out a seat for me. I smile and sit and as she takes the seat next to me, my parents walk in. "It's great to have you Billie." My mom says. "Thanks. The food smells amazing and your home is beautiful." My mom waves a dismissing hand while smiling. "You're too kind."

I smile and fiddle with my fingers. I was a bit on edge about this dinner and now more than ever. I don't exactly know when I'm going to tell them but I'll try throwing little hints and maybe they'll catch on. I'm trying not to think about all the things that could go wrong once I do tell them. I try to keep my mind from pondering and just look at the food that lay before us.

"Let's eat, shall we."

----

"So. Billie. Where do you plan on doing after school?" My mom asked. Billie set down the breadstick she was eating. I mentally curse myself because I forgot to ask my mom to make something vegan for Billie. "Um I'm not sure yet but I like drawing and I write a little bit." "Well, I'm sure you'll find something just give it time." Billie nods and smiles.

Shortly after, my mom notices Billie isn't eating. "Oh! I almost forgot. I am so sorry Billie." My mom disappears from the table and returns with pasta salad. My dad raises his eyebrow. "She's vegan." My dad looks at Billie then focuses his attention back on his food. I take a spoonful of macaroni in my mouth and I'm literally in heaven. It's so good. "Is it good, Star?"

I look up at my mother with a shy smile. She did not have to call me out like that. I give her a small 'yes' and continue to finish off the macaroni from my plate. Once I'm done, my plate is empty. I'm still hungry so I make myself another plate. I get some more roast, macaroni, rice, and cornbread. I get two pieces of cornbread because my baby seems to like it.

My parents watch carefully with their mouths half-open while Billie gives me a little smile. For some reason, she thinks it's cute when  I get like that. "Wow Star. You must be hungry." My mom says. I nod and think about my response. "Yes. Especially since I'm eating for two." I start eating the roast while looking down. I act as if I said nothing at all. It's dead silent and I can feel everyone's eyes on me. Especially a very nervous Billie. My dad clears his throat.
